The International Collaborative Research Grant (ICRG) supports international research collaborations between two or more qualified scholars, where the principal investigators bring different and complementary perspectives, knowledge, and/or skills to the project.

Supplemental funds are also available to provide essential training for academic research participants in ICRG-funded projects (co-applicants, students, as well as other professional colleagues).

By encouraging international collaborations, the grant contributes to the development of an international anthropology that values and incorporates different national perspectives and resources.

By providing training funds, the grant helps to build capacity in countries were anthropology may be under-resourced.

The grants are for a maximum of $30,000 for the research project.

Proposals which include the optional training element can have an increased funding request up to a maximum of $35,000, of which no more than $10,000 can be for essential training purposes.

Under special circumstances grants can be renewed to support longer-term research projects.

Principal Investigators must hold a doctorate or equivalent in anthropology or a related discipline.

Applicants must submit application materials using the Foundation’s online application submission procedure as well as send printed copies of these materials to the Foundation by regular mail.

Application deadlines for International Collaborative Research Grants are June 1 and December 1.

The June 1 deadline is for applicants requesting funding starting in January through June of the following year.

The December 1 deadline is for applicants requesting funding starting in July through December of the following year.

Theodora Bosanquet Bursary: The Theodora Bosanquet Bursary is offered annually to women graduates whose research in History or English Literature requires a short residence in London in the summer.

It provides accommodation in a hall of residence for up to 4 weeks between mid June and mid September.

There is no upper age limit.

Applicants will be requested to supply the names and addresses of two referees, at least one of whom must be acquainted with the applicant’s proposed work.

Successful applicants will be notified by the beginning of February that they have been awarded a Bursary.

Dates of residence must then be arranged through the Grants Administrator.

After completing her tenure of the Bursary, every Bursary holder is required to submit a short report to the Foundation on the work carried out during her stay in London.

Deadline: The closing date for receipt of applications for the Bursary offered for tenure during the period mid June to mid September is 31 October.

The workers strike began today, 04th June, 2012. The workers are demanding for the minimum wage, industrial Court, workers involvement in NSSF affairs and the amendment of the NSSF Act to cater for workers” interests, among other demands.

Many workers have kept around Kampala in the City Centre and waited for instructions from their leaders.
The workers threatened to camp in the offices of the government Ministries if the government continues being adamant.

The workers said they will not keep quiet until their demands are met and not leaving the city centre even if they arrested or tear gassed.

They say that they are protected by law and when they are arrested, others will takeover and when released they shall come back to the campaign.

The workers and their leaders first stormed offices of concerned Ministries and demanded that the “long standing workers” demands that fall within the jurisdiction of particular Ministries be handled. But the turn up for the workers in today’s demonstration was minimum.

PhD Fellowship: The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds awards PhD fellowships to outstanding junior scientists (max. age: 27 years) who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately 3 years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.

The fellowship comprises a competitive monthly stipend that is initially granted for 2 years and that can be extended for up to another 12 months.

Participation in international scientific conferences is also supported.

In addition, fellowship holders are offered personal support, seminars to discuss their projects, communication training and alumni meetings, and thus can become part of a worldwide network.

Overseas and non-European citizens need to be pursuing their PhD project in Europe. Applicants should not be older than 27 years at the respective deadline (1 February, 1 June, 1 October).

President Museveni will be the chief guest at the function expected to attract old students, friends of Nabumali living in the diaspora, Members of parliament and representatives of key traditional institutions in Uganda.  

The function will run under the theme ‘recollecting Nabumali back to the international scene.’ Nabumali once a first class school in Uganda is struggling to regain its lost glory. The headmaster of  Nabumali James Mulomi says that they have invited all old students of Nabumali working in key offices across the world to attend the function. Nabumali was established in 1912 by the Church Missionary Society of England.
