Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga Concert cancelled

Singer turned politician Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga Concert that was scheduled to take place on October 20, 2018 in Namboole Stadium has been cancelled.

This is according to the letter written by Management of Namboole Stadium on Thursday October 11, 2018, citing the stadium has been booked by two upcoming events including a wedding ceremony on October 20.

Singer turned politician Bobi Wine has had his intended concert cancelled.

“Kindly note the stadium has two pre-booked events namely Uganda Athletic Federation workshop from 15th October to 26th October and a wedding ceremony on 20th October 2018”, the letter reads.

Bobi Wine was therefore advised to select another date for the show in line with the guidelines of the Uganda Police.

On Thursday, Jamil Ssewanyana, the Managing Director of the Namboole Stadium confirmed that Bobi had booked the venue, however waiting for pending approval from the police.

“It’s true they [Fire Base Crew] have approached us, we have advised them to get clearance like any other event that we hold in the stadium. They [must] get clearance from police to hold such a concert… All events – football, the church, you know it very well, it’s clearance that is required…There are other activities on the day of the event and the person booking has to fulfil the requirements.” Ssewanyana said.

In a phone interview on Thursday according to the Observer, Ssewanyana added that the venue is however booked for other shows, however capacity to accommodate both is available if Police approves.

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has revealed that he can actually be friends with President Yoweri Museveni if he upholds the will of Ugandans.

Bobi Wine said this during his interview with Jeff Koinange and Babu Owino on Citizen Television in Kenya on Wednesday night.

“Do you see a day when you and Y.K Museveni would be friends?” Jeff asked and in answer, Bobi Wine stated.

“Sure, I wanna be friends with President Museveni especially if he respects the will of Ugandans. There is nothing personal between me and President Museveni. I’ve already told you that I have respect for him as a father and in fact as a grandfather. But again he should know that me and him are equal before and under the law”

Bobi Wine arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on October 10, the eve of the Moi day celebration and was escorted by a delegation of youthful members of parliament.

The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine has refuted the claims that his “people power” struggles have presidential intentions.

Bobi Wine said that the main issue is to liberate Ugandans from the political bondage before talking about the 2021 presidential elections is somehow ‘premature’

“When I was in the ghetto, my colleagues asked me to be the ghetto president. Some people have now started asking about whether I will contest for presidency or not. I do not want to speak about presidency for now if we have not built cohesion among ourselves,” Mr Kyagulanyi said.

In a press conference at his home in Magere, Wakiso District, Bobi Wine rectified that people power is just an ideology but not a political party.

“I strongly believe that anybody can structure themselves if they are organised and regain their liberty. Ugandans must know that this is not a Bobi Wine struggle but that of the whole country and that is why we are inspiring hope among those who feel pressed that we have the power to gain our freedom,

“I want you [Mr Museveni] to know that there is time when you are in power, and there will be time when you are out of power. You should therefore treat people the way you want to be treated when you leave power,

“A politician cares for the next elections but a statesman cares for the next generation. Be a statesman, Mr President.” Hon. Kyagulanyi remarked.

However, Mr Don Wanyama, the senior presidential press secretary, in a telephone interview with Daily Monitor described Mr Kyagulanyi’s remarks as an “empty rhetoric”.

“His remark needs to be dismissed with the contempt it deserves, and Bobi Wine should know that the decision whether Mr Museveni stays is made by Ugandans and not any other person,” he said.
Asked about the recent assassination of former Buyende District Police Commander, Muhammad Kirumira, Mr Kyagulanyi said such murders show how government has failed to plug security gaps.

“We long one day to sit on a global table as a conscious and credible nation and that is why we relate with the international community. But it is disturbing for the regime to call me a sell-out to the West,” Bobi Wine stated.

Security tightened ahead of Bobiwine home coming

Just hours to the return of the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament,Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine, police and the miltary have teamed to provide a security to ensure that no ‘law is broken’.

There has been a heavy deployment of security both in police uniforms and military wear in the places where the legislator is expected to pass most especially along Entebbe road in areas near the national airport.

Some of the major outlets even the ones on the Entebbe express highway have been blocked while other have police checks.

Bobi Wine announced his home coming on Monday and revealed that he will be in Uganda on Thursday from U.S.A where he had gone for specialized treatment after alleged police torture.

However police yesterday warned against violating the Public Order Management act sighting that police had not yet received any information that Kyagulanyi will convene a procession.

Mr. Emilian Kayima, the Police spokesperson, yesterday said the police will be available to escort Bobi Wine on arrival to his home in Gayaza to ensure peace.

“He [Bobi Wine] will only be received by his close family members at the airport after; he will be escorted to his home. There will be no rallies,” Kayima said.

However, the legislator had declined the offer saying that He knows where his home is located and prefers his friends welcoming him at the airport to police.

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has replied to the police statement that indicated a plan to escort the legislator to his home immediately upon arrival.

Bobi wine has said that he knows the direction to his home and therefore does not need any assistance from police.

“Well, for your information, no single family member will receive me at the airport, I will find them home coz I know where home is,” Bobi Wine stated.

On the issue of reception, Kyagulanyi stated that not even his children will welcome him at the airport.

“Well, for your information, no single family member will receive me at the airport, I will find them home coz I know where home is. I will be received by friends, colleague leaders and artistes,” Bobi’s statement read.

While in the waiting lounge here in Amsterdam, I just saw the Uganda Police spokesman Emilian Kayima and other senior police officers announcing that they will only allow my immediate family members to receive me from Entebbe Airport. They also said they will escort me to my home!!

Why do these police officers allow themselves to descend so low? They now want to decide who picks me and where I go upon arrival?

Well, for your information, no single family member will receive me at the airport, I will find them home coz I know where home is. I will be received by friends, colleague leaders and artistes. I will then go and see my sickly grandmother briefly at Najjanankumbi from where I will head to Kamwokya for lunch with my family (brothers and sisters) before I go to my home in Magere. I am a free Ugandan with the right to movement freely in my country. The police has no business telling me who receives me and who cannot or where I go and where I cannot. This impunity must stop!

Police unsettled as Bobi Wine returns to Uganda

Police in Uganda is on high alert after news of the return of the Kyadondo East member of parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine is set to jet into Uganda on Thursday afternoon from the United States of America (USA) where he had been receiving specialized treatment.

Security has been convening regular meetings to draw-up a plan of police deployment at the day of the legislator’s return.

A source in police said that the meetings resolved to use Anti-riot Police backed by Military Police as the first line of deployment along Entebbe road, Kampala Central Business District, Kamwokya (Bobi’s childhood residence) and Kasangati (The Obsever).

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire warned that whoever takes part in the procession will be arrested.

“There’s no clearance whatsoever – but the law is very clear that; if anyone is planning any procession, they should seek clearance from police. And if you don’t get, anything you do after that shall be arrested.” said Owoyesigyire.

Police Spokes person, Emirian Kayima has confirmed that the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine is being held by police at unknown detention point..

Police allege that BobiWine incited violence among his supporters yesterday on August 14, 2018 when they attacked the president’s convoy and smashed one of the car’s mirror.

Others arrested are the aspiring Arua member of Parliament Kassiano Wadri, Gerald Karuhanga and Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake Butebi together with a number of supporters.

The singer was picked up by plain clothed security operatives and driven away

Kawuma Yasin, Bobi Wine’s driver was shot dead following the chaos in Arua Municipality final campaigns to replace slain legislator Ibrahim Abiriga.

“Police has shot my driver dead thinking they’ve shot at me. My hotel is now cordoned off by police and SFC,” Bobi Wine said.
