The common practices that may harm peoples’ health are so many but in this article our health experts and health news desk will bring you a few of them.

Ironing and drying underwear indoors are some of the common practices that harm peoples’ health. Many of us are guilty of hanging our undergarments in the bedroom and bathroom because of privacy.

But the best place to hang underwear is outside bathrooms. Even if underwear dries well inside, the ones dried under direct sunlight dry better. The sun has ultra-violet rays that kill bacteria making them germ free. That is why women with candida are often advised to dry their knickers under direct sunlight in order to prevent re-occurrence of the fungal infection.

Ironing wet underwear on the other hand not only loosens them but the artificial heat may also reduce the bacteria load but not as effectively as the sun’s ultra-violet rays.

People should take their panty-pegs outside for at least 45 minutes to dry. The intensity may be low in the house even if the panty peg is near the window. The best sunshine is between 11:00am and 2:00pm.

The President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni shocked the world when he told Parliament today that the country would be free of load shedding for only three years once the construction of Bujagali hydro power plant ends in July 2012.

On receiving Museveni’s message to MPs and all Ugandans at large hundreds of people started calling on radio stations describing Museveni’s statement as ‘total rubbish.’

Some of the callers who described themselves as Luba Kyoya, Isaac Mutyaba, Makolo Kavuma and Tina Walugembe wondered whether the president still have the right message to deliver to the public.

The president said that with Bujagali producing 250 megawatts of power Uganda will have no load shedding for the next three years. The callers and radio panelists say that they expected Museveni to tell the world that Uganda will no longer have load shedding.

Although UMEME has been sending messages on peoples’ phones that the people of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts among others are to continue facing frequent outages because the ‘Mutundwe’ power station is under restoration, we have learnt that this information is not true.

An impeccable source at statehouse intimated to us that the agreement which the government made with ‘Agreeko’ Power Company has been permanently cancelled. It is agreeko which has been running Mutundwe power sub station.

A source in state house says that the problem of load shedding will permanently end in January 2012. From January 2012 it will be has hard as a donkey to pass into the hole of a needle for power to get off.

This source tells us that the government cut off agreeko because running its generators was so expensive for the taxpayers. We hear each generator of agreeko would consume nine million shillings in general.
