The Head of private schools in the country has made an outcry to government to incorporate private schools as partners in education and except them from all taxes in the upcoming budget for the next financial year.

Addressing the press in Kampala, the director Luyanzi College Bweyogerere, the former progressive college Jimmy Duyongera said private schools are facing a challenge in their day to day operations due to high costs especially in this era of high food prices.

Mr. Duyongera further appealed to the ministry of education to revise the curriculum arguing that examinations is not the only best way to access the students calling on schools to introduce a vocational element to help students develop their skills in the other areasĀ  side from academics.

He said the college has introduced tailoring lesions and Chinese language in a bid to support the vocational aspect.

Meanwhile the assistant commission policy and regulation for private schools in the ministry of education Ismail Mulindwa said private schools are taxed because of the business element in them but have said the income tax that they initially paying were scrapped off.

Mulindwa added that government has setup guidelines on how to recruit and retain teachers in the private schools.

He however said there are a few mistreatments in some schools by their proprietors

He said the government is looking at the public private partnership arrangement to strengthen economic ties. The Ugandan schools system is very competitive. There many children who want education in schools all over the country are able to pick and choose the best student in order to improve their grade average and national standard.

Private schools very in school fees and quality but sadly with so many large families in the country there is really enough money to go around. This means many children are left sitting at home waiting their relatives to try together enough money to send them back to schools.
