A city lawyer Peter Kibirango has filed an application before court seeking to be allowed to serve the minister with the petition against her appointment through the newspapers.

Kibirango says he has taken all necessary steps to effect personal service to Nantaba in vain.

The lawyer filed a petition before court challenging the decision of Parliament’s appointment’s committee that cleared her to assume the position as minister.

He wants the decision of the committee that cleared Nantaba’s appointment to be set aside because it is inconsistent with several articles of the constitution.

Kibirango argues that the committee has already pronounced itself on the matter and has no mandate to revisit its mandate.

He says the matter should have been taken to the floor of Parliament for an appeal, which wasn’t done.

Kibirango is seeking interpretation of several sections of the constitution with a view of having Nantaba’s appointment cancelled.

The legislators were reacting to the statement made by Kawempe north member of parliament also the parliamentary imam Latif Sebaggala on behalf of other Muslim MPs condemning the people who produced the anti Muslim film in America .

Sebaggala said that the film had angered the Muslim community worldwide because it undermined their religion.

He asked government to restrain any one, group or organization from provoking another by way of hate preaching or undermining other people’s beliefs.

The member of parliament for Lubaga north Moses Kasibante said that religious extremism is a creeping disease in Uganda which need to be averted.

He said that Christians and Muslims are demonizing each other’s religion which may spark religious war in the country as it happens in other countries.

The woman member or parliament for oyam district Santa Ogwang said that the inter-Religious council should intervene in such a matter because if it’s neglected it cause religious war.

The 3rd Prime Minister Moses Ali said it’s wrong for people in different religions to insult other people’s religion in relation to issues of religion yet religions are reorganized by the constitution.

He said that such people are the cause of the problems and conflicts in world and he promised to rise to take the matter to cabinet to find a solution.

when Denis Okema returned home with his family, his house was widely open with no trace of his property, save for rolls of toilet peppers.

Like he was possessed Okema rushed to neighbours and shouted ‘my house has been swept clean and all the property stolen.’ The neighbours also came and checked his house and found it empty.

Okema has now reported the matter to the area police post and as usual the force is hunting for the thugs. The police are yet to nab the people who stole Okema’s property.

The protests were brought about following several days without power.

Several traders accused power distributor, UMEME of switching off power for days without any explanation on the matter.

The traders began their strike at Nasser Road; thereafter it spread to busy streets of Kikuubo, Luwum and William streets, among others.

Anti riot police was heavily deployed in the areas where the demonstrations were held, as traders held placards, protesting over the 24 hour load shedding schedule.
