It is eight years now since Ugandans woke up to the sad news that the former Attorney General, Francis Ayume had died in a motor accident.

On the morning of Tuesday, May 18, 2004, the people of Uganda woke up to the sad news of a grisly accident that had claimed the life of Ayume.

But prior to the accident, the Attorney General had got a ‘headache’ in explaining to the President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni the correct constitutional process through which Article 105 (2) of the constitution of Uganda on the two presidential term limits could be lifted to allow Museveni to extend his rule.

Ayume had told Andrew Mwenda of the daily Monitor news paper that it would set a dangerous precedent to amend the Constitution of Uganda using unconstitutional means.

The president reportedly wanted the ruling party in Uganda to mobilize two thirds majority within Parliament to Amend Article 105 (2).

But what is shocking the family of Ayume is that the survivors in his accident have never told Ugandans what actually happened and the vehicle which crushed Ayume was not found! It is suspected that the accident that killed Ayume could have been planned.

Former Inspector General of Government and currently a high court judge Faith Mwondha has dragged the Monitor Publications Ltd, the editor of Sunday Monitor and Emmanuel Gyezaho accusing them of defaming her.

Mwondha says she is aggrieved by the two defaming articles published in the Sunday Monitor newspaper in August 2007, indicating that she was fraudulently receiving two salaries, one as IGG and another as a judge.

She says that the said articles showed that government had commission an investigation against her and a report had been made recommending that she should be sacked and prosecuted for offences of corruption and abuse of office.

Mwondha is seeking for general and aggravated damages and also an injunction restraining the respondents, their servants and agents from publishing such false and malicious statements against her.

She also wants court to order them pay costs of the suit.  Mwondha has filed the suit through Omunyokoo and Company advocates.

Trust our informers, they can dig up information. Our informers have been told that Daily Monitor’s news sub editor, Ceasar Abangira is moving with shoulders high after learning that his girl friend is two months pregnant.

His fellow workmates at the Daily Monitor inform us that every time Ceasar chats with them he doesn’t forget to talk about how soon he is becoming a dad.

Every time he discusses how the baby might be a boy and that if he happens to be a boy he will name the baby Ceasar Abangira junior.

Caesar however doesn’t tell pals the name he will give the baby in case it is a gal. With such a man happy about his achievements, we shall soon hear more and tell you in which hospital Ceasar’s gal friend is receiving antenatal services.
