This is after the defence lawyer Martin Muhumuza rejected evidence presented by the sixth prosecution witness.

Lt Ishaka Twaha Lutanaziba attached to the military police presented quoting Arms Ammunition Returns report pinning the accused over the murder of the three people.

However, Muhumuza told court that it was wrong for Lutanaziba to present evidence from a document he did not author.

He asked the Chairman to adjourn the case to tomorrow to enable him table documents that support his position.

Lawyers representing former Arua Municipality MP Godi Akbar Hussein have today asked court to acquit him on charges of murder.

Lawyers led by Henry Kunya told Justices of the Court of Appeal that the High Court judge that convicted Godi, did not properly evaluate the evidence on record.

He says the judge disregarded the evidence of eye witnesses and instead convicted his client on circumstantial evidence.

However prosecution led by Senior Principal State Attorney Joan Kagezi asked court to dismiss the appeal, saying the court reached a rightful decision.

Godi is challenging the 25year sentence handed to him in February 2011 by the High court in Mukono, for the murder of his 19 year old wife Rehema Ceaser.

He appeared before three justices of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Constance Byamugisha who set ruling on notice.

Rehema was murdered in December 2008 at Lukojo village in Mukono district.

Godi is dissatisfied with both the conviction and 25 year sentence the court handed him.

The murder sentence of a former medical Trade Union leader Apollo Nyangasi has been pushed tomorrow.

Nyangasi was convicted on 19th October for murdering his wife but the sentences were left pending.

Today he appeared before court to receive his sentence but the matter has been adjourned to tomorrow because the trial judge was not available due to ill health.

Delivering her judgment last week, High Court Judge Jane Kiggundu said prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that Nyangasi killed his wife Christine Dambio .

She disagreed with defence lawyers that the deceased died of pneumonia, arguing that one of Dambio’s relatives saw Nyangasi strangling her.

Prosecution says Nyangasi murdered Dambio at their matrimonial home in Kireka a Kampala suburb on 24th July 2010 after a misunderstanding related to property and accusations of infidelity.

The victim was found unconscious in the bathroom and rushed to Mulago Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Col.Kiiza Besigye says that one day president Museveni will be tried in the international court of justice like former Liberian president, Charles Taylor.

A U.N.-backed Sierra Leonecourt recently convicted Taylorof war crimes, becoming the first African former president to be found guilty by an international tribunal.

Taylor was charged with murder, rape, conscripting child soldiers and sexual slavery during intertwined wars inLiberia andSierra Leone, in which thousands of people were killed, displaced and women rapped.

Taylorwas found guilty by Justice Richard Lussick.  Besigye says that considering the many cases of human rights abuses president Museveni has reportedly made, he will be imprisoned for over 1000 years once found guilty.

The FDC president therefore told our informers that Museveni should do a wise thing and quit politics if he doesn’t want to be likeTaylorafter his term of office.

An army man in Uganda killed his male friend because he returned home with his wife. Lieutenant Colonel John Kaye is now facing murder charges at the Court Martial in Kampala.

The colonel denies the charges and asks for bail. It is said that Kaye shot dead Steven Kabuye when he turned up with Kaye’s wife in his car at their residence inKampala.

Prosecution alleges that Lt. Col. Kaye committed the offence in November last year. After hearing the prosecution side the court presided over by Brig. Charles Angina refused to grant him bail.

Lt. Col. Kaye is a serving army officer in UPDF. He is facing a capital offence so the court refused to grant him bail. Kaye’s case is to be heard weekly.
