Budadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi has asked farmers to manage corporative Unions on their own and stop waiting to get support from Government.
Mafabi who has been voted back as chairman of Bugisu Cooperative Union said that the intervention of Government has led to the collapse of many Cooperatives giving an example of Banyakore Kweterana,Masaka among others which  are all not existing .

He said Bugisu Corporative Union has survived because of its able leadership that has enabled them to survive despite Government interference which he described as  poor managers.

Mafabi appealed to all farmers to join cooperative Union so that they can be able to lobby for a bigger market for their products.

Mafabi promised to work with the new board to weed out corruption and ensure that the recommendations of the forensic audit reports are implemented.

Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) National party mobilizer, Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Budadiri west MP, Nandala Mafabi, who between the two is a potentially better choice of leader for FDC members and Ugandans at large?
Let us take note that it is only when someone is campaigning for Class Monitor or Head Prefect in a school that pupils and or students may not ask what s/he has done in order to demonstrate his/her ability to do what he/she is pledging to do for electorates.
But at the level of a Party President, potential for great leadership must not be explained or spoken about but rather illustrated and demonstrated clearly for everyone to see. In case of FDC, the two candidates in the race to replace Col. Kiiza Besigye as party president, that is Gen. Muntu and MP Nandala Mafabi must explain their capacities, will and dedication to doing what they want to do.

Muntu is good in military affairs, international affairs and mobilization and his records explain this. He has been the FDC National mobilizer and a member of East African parliament for over 10 years and his performance, no question, it has been good.

If it is instilling accountability in the party and discipline on party members, the records of Muntu and Nandala Mafabi speak it out. If it is raising funds for the party, Muntu’s records explain it. Whatever Muntu suggests doing for FDC at the level of party president, his records show it, not words. So how do Muntu and Nandala Mafabi measure against each other in this race of FDC party president?

Things are not all fine for the Member of Parliament for Budadiri west, Nathan Nandala Mafabi after his party’s National Executive Committee decided to grill him over reportedly shielding corrupt officials in Forum for Democratic Change.

Nandala, according to sources sitting on the National Executive Committee of FDC, will be grilled on Wednesday this week at the FDC head offices in Najjanankumbi, on Kampala-Entebbe road.

Nandala will be grilled further because many times he has failed to act on complaints against FDC officials whom have been ‘stealing’ the party funds the party has been getting from the donors.

Mafabi will also be grilled because recently when the Public Accounts Committee of parliament was investigating the controversial compensation to Kampala businessman Hassan Basajjabalaba, a senior government official approached the FDC MPs and reportedly bribed them. The MP for Terego Kasiano Wadri reported the matter to Mafabi but still Mafabi declined to act.

Things will not be easy when oil debates resumes in the Uganda’s ninth parliament anytime from now according to Budadiri west MP Nandala Mafabi.

Mafabi who president Museveni’s advisor in charge of the media issues John Nagenda recently termed as an improvement of FDC leader, Col. Kiiza Besigye has today told the executive to get prepared for a “showdown” over reported government attempts to shield corruption in the oil sector.

Mafabi has informed our spies at Parliament today that president Museveni’s plans to shield his ministers who reportedly received bribes in order to grant licences to Tullow Oil Company will not work out as the head of state expects.

Last week reports emerged that President Museveni had requested the MPs on the government ticket to save the ministers involved in the oil saga. The ministers believed to have received bribes to pass oil deals are Hilary Oneke, Sam Kutesa and Amama Mbabazi.

The leader of Opposition in Parliament Nathan Nandala Mafabi has demanded that government explains to the public why it has resorted to using excessive force against unarmed Ugandans.

Nandala who was along with other opposition leaders painted pink during a candle light vigil in memory of those who died during the walk-to- work demos in Kireka yesterday also complained of general body pain saying despite washing, the colour has stuck in his clothes. Nandala is planning to table a formal petition in parliament and the clothes as evidence.

Nandala, while presenting his personal statement to parliament also said the public needs to be informed the content of the coloured water used to spray the opposition and its effect to humans.

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga however grilled Nandala and his counterpart MP Ibrahim Semujju Nganda (Kyadondo East) for dodging parliament work for personal duties without permission from the Speaker.

Kadaga says it’s a breach of the rules of procedure for a member of parliament to absent himself/herself from parliament without the Speaker’s knowledge.

But Nandala says Semujju has not persistently dodged Parliament adding that even then, it’s not right for anyone to be sprayed with chemicals whose content is unknown as well as its effects.

The opposition has attacked president Museveni over the Rwakitura NRM retreat saying that its misuse of public resources.

Addressing journalists at parliament the leader of the opposition Nandala Mafabi said that such acts are the reason behind the collapsing economy

He also revealed that amongst all the president’s the country has had, Museveni leads on abusing of the public resources saying that he gets money from banks of Uganda  and uses  it  for selfish needs.

He also said that he has turned statehouse into party headquarters where all party activities are held and yet party activities should not be funded by the public funds.

Mafabi however says that the reason for that caucus is for the MPs to agree on passing the bail bill which they said might be targeting the opposition to be locked behind bars for six months a move that he said will bring them down.

The three day NRM meeting which started last week ends today at state house Entebbe.

The Leader of Opposition in Parliament  Nandala Mafabi is demanding an explanation from Government the circumstances under which electricity supply has reduced in the country yet the government got a supplementary budget of 61 billion shillings in April this year to run up to September 2011.

According to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company, the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) cut off supply to government due to non-payment of arrears totaling 200 billion shillings.

Nadala Mafabi, leader of opposition in Parliament

Power producer Aggreko switched off 50megawatts based at Kiira, in Jinja, Electro-maxx Ltd switched off 22 megawatts based in Tororo District, while Jacobsen Ltd shut down its 50-mw plant in Namanve on Wednesday, drastically cutting electricity supply to the national grid.

This has resulted in day and night long load shedding in different areas from 6am-spm and 6pm to 6am and power distributor Umeme tries to ration the available electricity.

Mafabi while addressing Journalists at Parliament said the Ministry of Energy and that one of Finance must be investigated over how they could let matters to get to this level.

He says the power blackout has caused confusion among the consumers most especially because they did not get enough notice to prepare themselves for the intermittent load shedding.

Mafabi is asking Ugandans to rise up and put to task the government to look for an immediate solution because if the current situation persists everything will be out of order with the increasing load shedding in the County.
