The national employment policy will also stimulate government objectives and processes for generating jobs and ensuring better employment environment for all workers.

The chairperson of the national organization of trade unions Auther Wilson Wire says this is a great stride towards the liberation and protection of workers.

He also revealed that the international labour organization has organized a special training session for industrial court judge will be brought to the court.

The policy is intended to protect the rights and promoting the working conditions of workers. The long a waited policy was launched as the country commemorated the world international Labour Day on 1^st May 2011.

Addressing the media in Kampala today, Gender, Labour social development Minister Gabriel Opio says the coming in force of this policy will go a long way in promoting the wellbeing of workers and creating more jobs.

He says government has put in place a committee of experts to advice it in instituting a minimum wage scale in the country.

Opio adds that the council will collect suggestions from workers and labour unions and employers and then produce a draft wage before it is presented to cabinet to enact it.

Once passed, Opio says all employers will be expected to respect the minimum wage, a salary below which workers in particular sector should be paid.
