]]> Benedicto Kiwanuka (May 1922 – September 22, 1972) will be remembered by the Democratic Party mid next year according to sources sitting on DP National Executive Council.

Kiwanuka is one of the founder members of DP and among the leaders who led the country in the transition between colonial British rule and independence.

Kiwanuka was reportedly murdered by Idi Amin’s soldiers in 1972.

 

Kiwanuka attended king’s African Rifles, rising to the rank of sergeant major in the 2nd world war.

After returning from the war, he worked as an interpreter at the High Court of Uganda. Sulaiman Kidandala, the deputy organising secretary of DP says that the party will reveal all the details of the programme when arrangements are over.
