Many people of Uganda are in fear after learning that Muslim leaders are secretly in meetings to run national wide protests over the death of Sheikh Abdul Karim Sentamu.

The Muslims say that they gave president Museveni and the Inspector General of Police, Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura an ultimatum of only 14 days to publish the report why ‘they’ murdered Sheikh Abudul Karim Sentamu. Sheikh Sentamu was shot dead near William street mosque.

A prominent sheikh at Kibuli Mosque says that the ultimatum expired on May 5th 2012 and the report has not come out by Monday 7th May 2012. The sheikh says that following the government’s refusal to honour the ultimatum calls for national wide Muslim protests. The sheikh says the date for the protests would be communicated soon.

The new leadership in Libya has announced that stamps on official and consular documents bearing the symbols of the regime of late Col. Muammar Gadaffi ‘the great’ as null and void.

The statement the new leaders of Libya sent to all African presidents reads, “the Libyan government announces the cancellation of all official and consular stamps bearing the names of the, “Great socialist Peoples Libyan Arab Jamahiriya” and “the Libyan Arab Peoples’ bureau.”

However it has been also cleared that the new changes will not affect the Libyan documents in the hands of world governments. Any document signed prior to the new leadership in Libya remains valid because the defunct government of Gadaffi was then recognized worldwide. The people travelling to Libya must have documents bearing the new stamps. Gadaffi’s leadership collapsed in August when the former rebels of the Libyan Transitional National Council over throw the old regime.

Uganda is experiencing TB drugs but the National Resistance Movement government is planning to import the TB drugs in September. Today is March 15, 2012. We don’t know whether TB patients will not have died by September. Currently most hospitals in Uganda have run out of drugs.

The minister for Health, Christine Ondoa has told a press conference in Kampala this morning that the Government has earmarked 4 billion shillings to procure TB drugs starting with the month of September.

Ondoa says that the government is planning to distribute the drugs once imported to both private and government aided health centers across the country. TB is still one of the major causes of death in Uganda and Africa in general. Uganda registers, according to the ministry of health 330 per 1000 patients who report at the hospitals.

Uganda also experiences inadequate supply of fluorescent microscopes used in laboratories. The few microscopes the country has were procured a few years back by Global Fund grants.

The members of opposition are complaining that the ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has created a ‘stone throwing group’ with a purpose of discrediting the rallies of action for change (A4C).

The coordinator of A4C Mathias Mpuuga says that the group is planted in opposition to throw stones at the police such that the force gets a chance to ban the A4C rallies.

The police last week warned to ban A4C rallies on grounds that the leaders of A4C have failed to control their members from being violent.

The Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura last week warned A4C to stop holding rallies without police permission. However Mathias Mpuuga says the government created the stone throwing group to discredit opposition.

Mpuuga says that the government and the Police own these stone-throwing men who disguise as opposition activists and throw stones at police and innocent citizens.

Uganda’s capital city Kampala.

A source in government told us that one of the ministers of Education and sports has already directed Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to ensure that all schools inKampalaare removed before the end of 2012.

The KCCA official in charge of planning, Joseph Sentongo says that the move is intended to decongest the city.

The development is likely to affect thousands of pupils and students who have been trekking miles to study inKampala.
