]]> Security minister Muluri Mukasa has supported the Anti torture bill currently being scrutinized by the legal and parliamentary affairs committee of parliament saying it will outlaw torture.

However he suggests that the law should be balanced to protect the people who collect information from suspects which can be used for successful prosecution.

Muluri who was giving views on this bill before the committee, says that if the bill is not balanced, the people responsible for interrogating suspects will fear to do their work well.

The bill was tabled before parliament as a private members bill by Ndorwa east mp Wilfred Niwagaba to make torture a crime.

Recently Cameroon threatened to suspend aid to countries like Uganda that don’t respect gays. However Ugandan MPs have told Cameroon to keep quiet as Uganda is not like England where ‘immoral’ people are accepted.

The Ugandan MP representing Ndorwa West, David Bahati says that Uganda will not bend down to Cameroon’s threats, saying Uganda can operate without aids from some countries.

MP Bahati is the one who recently drafted the Anti Homosexuality Bill 2009.” The bill criminalizes gay rights.

]]> Over 150 MPs have signed documents to censure the minister for general duties, Dr. Khidu Makubuya and his counterpart of Gender, Labour and Social AffairsSyda Bbumba for their role in the controversial compensation of businessmen including Hassan Basajjabalaba over loss of businesses.

 The censure move was by Ndorwa East MP, Wilfred Niwagaba and the youth MP for Eastern, Peter Ogwang. The woman MP for Luweero district, Brenda Nabukenya has told our informer that there four lists being circulated in parliament and that over 150 MPs have already signed. The law requires at least 125 signatures to censure a minister inUgandagovernment. Majority of the MPs who have signed belong to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

  The MPs accuse Khidu and Bbumba for their role in approving payment of more than 142 billion shillings to Hassan Basajjabalaba as compensation for loss of business.
