Addressing journalists at media center, Nkalubo also advised parents to give their children rubber shoes. She also discouraged teachers from letting children move out of classrooms during rainy times.

He adds that even carrying umbrellas with a metallic tip is dangerous and therefore people should stop carrying them and resort to wooden ones.

Lightening has so far struck three places including Aleptong where it killed pupils, in Bugiri and the latest being Kiryandongo where it left 18 pupils dead on spot but the number according to Disaster Preparedness minister Musa Ecweru has since risen to 23.

Meanwhile, the ministry for disaster preparedness says it is collecting figures from all areas struck by this disaster and will present it to parliament on Friday, though disaster state minister Musa Ecweru says the Kiryandongo death toll has arisen to 23 from 28
