The non-teaching staff at Makerere University and other Public Universities have finally agreed to end their week-long strike for the next three month as they await President Museveni’s pledge that he made with them yesterday (Tuesday August 16) in a meeting at state house Entebbe.

The non-teaching staff at all Public Universities who have been on strike over delays in salaries, salary increments and pending payment of their arrears which has paralyzed business at all public universities for the past few days, will now resume work by tomorrow.

The Universities which should have commenced work two weeks back had until yesterday refused to re-open when they met President Museveni and the education minister, Janet Museveni, it was agreed that they resume duty as their grievances are being worked on.
In their general assembly held today (Wednesday August 17) at Makerere University, they unanimously agreed to suspend the strike and get back to their respective posts tomorrow so that business can get back to normal.

The workers however, warned that if the three months elapse with no positive answer, then a massive strike will be announced across all public universities.
