An army man in Uganda killed his male friend because he returned home with his wife. Lieutenant Colonel John Kaye is now facing murder charges at the Court Martial in Kampala.

The colonel denies the charges and asks for bail. It is said that Kaye shot dead Steven Kabuye when he turned up with Kaye’s wife in his car at their residence inKampala.

Prosecution alleges that Lt. Col. Kaye committed the offence in November last year. After hearing the prosecution side the court presided over by Brig. Charles Angina refused to grant him bail.

Lt. Col. Kaye is a serving army officer in UPDF. He is facing a capital offence so the court refused to grant him bail. Kaye’s case is to be heard weekly.

The Court on March 12^th 2012 extended the trial of Bihande to Tuesday this week because the MP had lost his sister Margret Bihande. The case is before Justice Catherine Bamugemereirwe of the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court. MP Bihande is currently out of prison on court bail pending the main trial.

According to the information in court, the Inspectorate of Government alleges that Bihande forged false documents and embezzled 20 million shillings from wit Constituency Development Funds. It is said that the MP committed the offence between 2008/2009 and 2009/10 financial years.

During last Thursday’s meeting NRM MPs were divided over exonerating Tumusiime Mutebile for his role in the 142 billion shillings compensation to city businessman Hassan Bassajjabalaba.

The NRM MPs argued that they would not accept to be swayed by the president and would stick to the parliament’s recommendation that Mutebile be personally held liable for his commissions and omissions in the Basajjabalaba saga.

Museveni on Thursday pleaded with MPs to spare Mutebile reasoning that while Mutebile erred in not consulting, he technically committed no offence under Ugandan laws.

Museveni says that whereas Mutebile never consulted him before making the commitments, the MPs need to save him for the sake of the economy. Museveni says that Mutebile has for a long time been without blemish so the MPs should spare him.

Kigozi says the old man faces charges of aggravated defilement. The offence attracts a death penalty on conviction.

Kigozi says that the old man reportedly defiled the girl on January 11^th, 2012. The girl confesses that she was sexually abused by her grandfather, an allegation the old man denies.

He says that the mother of the girl wants him jailed such that she sales his plot of land. 

The police surgeon report confirms that the girl was abused but it doesn’t indicate clearly that it is the old man who is responsible.

54-year old Francis, who is son to the late former President Godfrey Binaisa is said to have defiled a 12 year old girl 3times.

The test was ordered after his lawyer Yunus Kasirivu told court that his client seems abnormal.

He is alleged to have  committed the offence between November 2010 and April 2011

The case has been adjourned to the 20th of this month to enable him organise his witnesses.
