Commonly, people experience a heart attack when they are not fully aware of what is happening and they may not seek immediate medical attention. This can prove fatal.

The signs of heart attack and symptoms of a heart attack may include shortness of breath or a tight chest sensation, pain over the heart or the middle of the chest, pain or discomfort in one or both arms, neck, jaw and back, a cold sweat, upset stomach and dizziness. High Blood pressure and heart attack have connection. Our medical experts say that blood pressure is controlled by flexibility and overall side of the blood vessels.

Inflammation and excess cholesterol reduce the flow of blood, which ultimately increases the pressure within the blood vessel. When the pressure increases your heart must work harder to pump blood through the smaller space and wherever the blood is travelling to (for example; arms, toes, brain etc) will suffer.

Blood carries vital nutrients and oxygen to tissues throughout the body. The diminished blood flow ultimately affects the ability to heal over time, the tissues deteriorate.

RABIES refers to as fatal viral infection which is transmitted to humans through the bite of rabid domestic animals like dogs, or wild animals such as foxes.

In most cases symptoms of rabies take 10 days to three months to show out, but the symptoms may vary from one week to a year, depending on the site of the bite and the rabies viral load in the human body.

The doctors at the Rabies clinic in Entebbe sub district say that if a person is bitten on the head the symptoms of rabies present in a shorter time. This is because the nearer to the brain, the shorter the incubation period of rabies.

Some of the symptoms of rabies are:- the virus spread through the central nervous system and damages the brain and the spinal cord. The initial symptoms are fever, pain or unexplained tingling, pricking or burning sensation at the wound side. Other symptoms are pain and difficulty in swallowing, abdominal pain, a lot of thick and sticky saliva as well as restlessness. In the late stages, the child gets mental confusion, convulsions, paralysis, hydrophobia [fear of water]. The victim may get into comma and suffer heart and respiratory failure.

Eye pain  can be caused by various things which include  chemical and flash burns  from alkaline substances and intensive light such as burns from welding,household cleaners, an inflammation of the iris,headache, Traumatic events, such as a penetrating injury to the eye, a blow to the eye with a foreign object, and motor vehicle collisions, internal eye pressure,increased production of aqueous humor (the fluid that bathes the inner eye). This is typically seen in older adults.

Types of eye pain

Ocular pain is eye pain coming from the outer structures of the surface of the eye.

Orbital pain is described as a deep, dull  ache behind or in the eye. This pain is often caused by diseases of the eye.

Eye diseases may be as aresult of age-related macular degeneration  an eye condition that leads to the deterioration of the center of the retina leading to loss of central vision, HIV/AIDS,  trachoma,Albinism  a group of hereditary conditions that affect how the body produces or distributes pigment. People with albinism have a reduced amount or absence of pigment in their eyes, Eye allergies are a condition when the eyes react to an irritant or allergen, making them red, itchy, tearful and swollen, constant use of  Avastin  (bevacizumab)a drug injected into the eye to slow vision loss in people who have “wet” age-related macular degeneration,eye cancer or cancer of the eye is a malignancy that starts and grows in your eye. A malignancy is a group of cells that are cancerous and that can spread to other sites in the body or invade and destroy tissues.

Doctors recommend that someone with eye problems should eat things like carrots,potatoes, eggs,milk,mangoes and drinking a lot of water which help the retina eye vessels to function properly.

Insomnia is the habitual inability to sleep. Scientists tell us that almost half of all adults in the world especially in poor African countries like Uganda, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Somalia and Angola report having difficulty sleeping.

But less than 10% of the old people in the world discuss the issue of insomnia with their doctors.

Insomnia is caused by mainly stress and anxiety, aging, stimulants, including caffeine, decongestant and thyroid medications.

Habitual inability to sleep may be caused by indigestion, pain, alcohol, sugar and lack of exercise.

Scientists tell us that wallets when tucked in the back pocket like many men in Africa and around the world do may trigger pain in de back, buttocks and legs.

The medical experts say that a loaded wallet may slightly shift the spine out of alignment, causing muscle tension.

Worse still, scientists pronounce that storing wallets in the back pocket can lead to compression and irritation of the sciatic nerve.

Compression and irritation of the sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and begins from nerve roots in the lumber spinal cord in the lower back. It extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the lower limb. The best preventive method is to remove the wallet before sitting, especially in the car.

Ebola is one of the diseases caused by a virus called filovirus. Ebola has several types but the main types are Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, Ebola Côte d’Ivoire, Ebola Bundibugyo and Ebola Reston.

It is transmitted mainly through direct contact with the blood, secretions, organs, fluids and bodies of an infected person. Ebola can kill an entire family, health staff and a society if they do not wear protective facilities whenever there is an outbreak.

Ebola is characterised by too much fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, impaired kidney and liver function, and internal and external bleeding.

The disease has no specific vaccination. But the doctors administer symptomatic treatments to people suffering from the disease to reduce pain and prevent dehydration.
