The UK Department for International Development DFID has within 2010 given 100 million pound sterling to Uganda under government led Peace Recovery and Development Plan to support social and economic recovery programs in northern Uganda.

Prime Minister Apollo Nsibambi heads PRDP

This was revealed by Lazarus Ochira, the National Coordinator of Recovering, Peace building and conflict prevention in the office of the prime minister department of disaster preparedness while he was presenting a paper on the PRDP programme activities.

He presented the paper during Acholi youth strengthening strategy AYSS stakeholders’ conference at Acholi inn Gulu in town.

He said 1.6 million pounds has been allocated to Labora youth centre for building more houses, 5.7 million for supporting resettle programme of returnees from the IDP camps, 2 million for economic recovery analysis in the entire Northern Uganda, 13 million for private investors and 24 million pound for funding NUSAF phase 1II.

He called for a coordinated approach by all the implementers of PRDP and the stakeholders concern with PRDP so that the grass roots would benefit.

The one day conference attracted 30 working partners in Acholi sub region with support from DANIDA through NGO Forums within the sub region.
