President Museveni of Uganda and his counterpart, the president of Somalia, Sheikh Ahmed Sharif have held a closed door meeting at statehouse Nakasero, Kampala.

Sheikh Sharif Ahmed secretly arrived in Uganda on Tuesday this week and straight away headed to Statehouse Nakasero. The meeting was a one on one and no minister or aide of both Somalia or Uganda government attended it. The meeting took place on Wednesday night according to sources near the Ugandan president.

We have heard that all ministers and other government officials have been banned to give the press details of Sharif’s visit.

However according to informers at statehouse, the two heads of state discussed second phase of the offensive against Al-Shabaab militants fighting the government of Somalia.

President Sharif also according to sources met the leadership of UPDF. Why president Sharif visited Uganda and discussed the Somali conflict?

It is because Uganda and Burundi are the only countries that have sent troops to Somalia on a peacekeeping mission. Kenya has also recently sent a handful of soldiers to fight Al-shabaab militants in Southern Somalia.
