When a snake bites someone, the possible first aids are many. In Buganda (Uganda), people chew tobacco and spit the nicotine at the site of the snake bite.

Some people risky their lives by sucking out the poison. But Dr. Florence Tusuubira of Namasuba health center on Entebbe road says this only works if the person sucking doesn’t have a wound in his/her mouth.

Tusuubira says that if someone speeds up sucking out the poison the affected person’s life may be saved. Also some people wash the affected site with paraffin. Black stones or snake-stones are also used in Africa as first aid for snake bites.

But the official drugs for snake bites include Penta anti-venom. Where it is applicable, when the snake bites you, kill it and go with it in the hospital as this helps the medical workers to understand the type of venom the snake has injected in your body.

Keeping the affected part of the body below heart level sometimes reduces on the high flow of venom to the heart. Medical experts in Kampala told this reporter that putting on rings, anklets and bracelets may make the site the snake has bitten to swell.

Also note that most snakes in Africa are poisonous. When a poisonous snake bites someone, that person’s temperature, blood pressure, pulse of the heart and the breathing rate begins to reduce meaning that the person is about to die. When the snake bites someone, rush him or her to the nearest health centre as soon as possible.

whoever plotted the FDC primaries for 2012 might have been a genius. From our understanding November 2012 is different from February 2016 in the FDC ranks.

November 12^th (date for FDC election of a person to replace Col. Kiiza Besigye as party president) is about who does the lead work in FDC between now and 2016. In fact all the three candidates may not even be picked for the FDC party race in 2016. And woe unto the one that gets picked now, but fails to perform and wants to make a shot at 2016, they will not even have a chance.

The winner of the FDC primaries will have the unenviable task of building a strong party into a winning party. He (they are all men: Leader of opposition in Uganda parliament Nandala Mafabi, Tororo MP Geoffrey Ekanya and Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu) will have the duty of steering the FDC boat through shark infested waters and you know what I mean.

His followers are many but the poorer type who is only rich in the clarity of how they want to be governed. Others have different interests ranging from posturing for 2016 Parliamentary seats, to getting jobs that are none existent.

It is a real tall order and is like requiring a person to build a tower in a swamp without the proper tools. Guys there little to eat and more to do just in case you were not aware.

The next National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate must be a grassroots person, a man or a woman of the people, who easily identifies with them, appreciates their works and the person who appreciates peoples’ village folks and cultures in diversity.

Gen. Salim Saleh says that the person capable of replacing Museveni as NRM National Chairman and consequently the party’s flag bearer must be one who can share his/her  experiences in regards to rural mobilization and at the same time mingle with the urban folks and opposition leaders.

He says that the person to replace Museveni must know what it means to get politically fired up and remains sober and getting the votes out from the electorates.

Saleh, while chatting with NRM cadres at the NRM party head offices in Kampala yesterday said that the next Party presidential flag bearer’s job must be getting the party support into real voters which will amount to winning an election for NRM candidates at all levels like the way Museveni has been doing.

The general says that the people preparing to replace Museveni must not only be theoretical speakers, conference paper presenters and lecturers but people who are willing to fold their sleeves and get to work. He says that some people persuade Museveni to leave the party leadership but NRM still lacks tested, proven worthy, committed and hardworking persons like Museveni is doing.

Makindye West MP Hussein Kyanjo’s life is now reported to be out of danger, we can exclusively reveal. There have been rumours in Kampala that Kyanjo was poisoned and or bewitched by his political enemies in a certain camp.

His family sources have told us that this MP is recovering steadily after undergoing a jaw surgery. Kyanjo was operated upon in Lubaga.

However Kyanjo still has a problem with his tongue. He cannot talk well because doctors replaced his teeth. MP Kyanjo was advised not to talk a lot before he completely recovers. This perhaps explains why we no longer hear his voice in parliament.

On Thursday there was a rumour in town that Kyajo had died. However, his wife Sarah tells us that MP Kyanjo is on the road to recovery. The doctors at Mulago hospital says that when a person is suffering a dislocated jaw, it is difficult to open the mouth.

The doctors in Dubai have also told us that Kyanjo is complaining of extreme headache and inability to concentrate.

Some unscrupulous people are fond of hacking into email addresses of people and send messages to people in contacts boxes. Many times the messages they send are asking people for money.

If you find such messages in your yahoo addresses you may first inquire to know exactly whether it is the real person you know sending such messages to you.

The moment you discover that the sender of the message is not that person you know just delete those messages. And if unscrupulous people use your email address to send people messages, feel sorry and apologise for the inconveniences caused. Tell the people affected that you are fine and not involved in any accident, arrested, sick etc.

In most times unscrupulous people enter into our email addresses when they go to internet cafes and found them not signed out. Sometimes they may access your passwords from your writings, friends, phones etc.

How to treat ringworm: Soak and wash clothes with a detergent or discard clothes worn by some one suffering from ringworms.

Avoid sharing clothes, combs, socks and bedding sheets with an infected person. Bathe everyday and use medicated soaps or liquids.

In case of skin folds, have your skin checked for infections treat them till they cure.

Also apply prescribed anti-fungal medicated creams on the affected areas before ringworm spreads further.
