Full CEU Doctoral Fellowship: Central European University (CEU) offers a competitive Full Central European University (CEU) Doctoral Fellowship to students on doctoral programs.

Applying for a Central European University (CEU) doctoral program, you are automatically considered for Full Doctoral Fellowship.

Students admitted into Central European University (CEU) doctoral degree programs are eligible to receive the Full Central European University (CEU) Doctoral Fellowship for up to three years.

The Full CEU Doctoral Fellowship

Covers tuition and medical insurance. In addition, full fellowship recipients are awarded a monthly stipend of 200,000 HUF calculated to cover educational and accommodation costs (Economics PhD students receive a monthly stipend of 250,000 HUF).

PhD Studentship in Structural Engineering: Loughborough’s Faculty of Engineering offers financial support to talented research students in a number of ways.

Funding for PhD students is awarded on the basis of academic merit and your potential to become a member of one of our internationally recognised research teams.

East African Community LLM & PhD Scholarships: Applications for admission and scholarships are invited from candidates in member states of the East African Community, who wish to receive a scholarship and to take part in the postgraduate study programme in law (LLM or PhD) offered by the Tanzanian-German Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Law at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law (Formerly Faculty of Law) in cooperation with the University of Bayreuth (TGCL).

The purpose of the programme is to train future leaders in East Africa. University of Bayreuth (TGCL) grants ten LLM scholarships and five PhD scholarships each year.

Scholarships are granted for one year in the case of LLM students and three years in the case of PhD students.

Scholarship Requirements and Qualifications:

The requirements for admission to the LLM and PhD programmes are those applicable at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law (Formerly Faculty of Law).

For the LLM programme:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or its equivalent from a recognized institution of higher legal education.

For the PhD programme:

  • An excellent LLM degree from a recognized institution.

Law Graduate Teaching Assistantships: The Department of Law, Queen Mary University, seeks to award four Graduate Teaching Awards (GTAs) to PhD students each year.

Graduate Teaching Awards (GTAs) cover fees and £12,000 maintenance costs.

Graduate Teaching Awards (GTAs) are awarded annually on the basis of the academic excellence of the candidates and the teaching needs of the department at the time.

Graduate Teaching Assistants would be expected to undertake various teaching duties.

Students who do not have teaching assistantships may be offered teaching paid on part-time basis if their work experience matches the needs of the Department.

Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme: The Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies.

Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July.

The Foundation gives priority to requests for Master’s level courses but is also willing to consider applications for PhD programmes, when doctoral degrees are necessary for the career objectives of the student.

Requests will also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students doing their research in Third World countries on topics judged to be of interest to the Aga Khan Development Network.

Applications for short-term courses are not considered; neither are applications from students who have already started their course of study.

Geographic Scope: The Foundation accepts applications from countries where it has branches, affiliates or other AKDN agencies which can help with processing applications and interviewing applicants.

At present, these include Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique and Madagascar.

Selection Criteria: The main criteria for selecting award winners are:

  • Excellent academic records,
  • Genuine financial need,
  • Admission to a reputable institution of higher learning and
  • Thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans.

Candidates are also evaluated on their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment.

Applicants are expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.

Age Limit: Preference is given to students under 30 years of age.

Financial Assistance: The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only.

Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.

Loan Conditions: Half of the scholarship amount is considered as a loan, which must be reimbursed with an annual service charge of 5%.

A guarantor is required to co-sign the loan agreement.

The payback period is five years, starting six months after the study period funded by the Aga Khan Foundation.

Application Procedures: The application procedures of AKF’s International Scholarship Programme are decentralised.

Students may obtain application forms as of January 1st each year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services/Boards in their countries of current residence.

Deadline: March 31 each year.
