Uganda Electoral Commision Chairman, Dr. Badru Kiggundu

This follows allegations by opposition Forum for Democratic Change Spokesperson, Philip Wafula Ogutu that EC has registered non Ugandans in different districts including Masaka Luwero Nakasongola, Kiboga and Mubenede despite complaints to the commission by some people in these areas.

Ogutu said many Rwandans, Kenyans, Burundians and citizens of Democratic Republic of Congo have registered to vote as Ugandans in different parts of Uganda.

But Kiggundu says the EC is not aware of any such complaints or any non Uganda being registered. He says some politicians are bent on tarnishing the name of the electoral commission and the electoral process in Uganda.

Kiggundu says if anyone has evidence of any foreigner being registered in any part of the country, they should bring the evidence to the EC or nearest police since it is illegal for non Ugandans to be on the voting register.
