MaoFollowing the rejection of Norbert Mao to stand as the Gulu municipality MP, the party and the fallen candidate have lined up a massive and strong legal team to challenge the polls commission on the grounds used to refuse him from contesting for his desired post.
Speaking to journalists today in Kampala, the head of the legal team, Nicholas Opio, says they have given the polls commission 48 hours to hear them out following the complaint they filed and if they fail to do so within the given time they will not hesitate to drag the matter to court for redress. Nicholas also challenges the electoral commission for retiring the national voters’ register in exchange for the ID data saying the act was against the law since the commission has no powers to do so.

However, Norbert Mao says the act against him is a strong signal to all Ugandans that the electoral process is not free and fair and calls for opposition to stand up in arms to challenge the unfairness of the commission.

Mao tweeted his voters card.

Former Supreme Court Judge Prof. George Kanyaihamba has advised government to desist from appointing Political failures as Diplomats.

Speaking to Journalists at parliament Kanyaihamba said people who represent Ugandans abroad must be carrier diplomats and not those who are seeking for political rewards because they have failed to be elected during national polls.

He said diplomats must be people with high integrity who can defend the interests of the nation as professionals but not failures, an issue he says must be addressed by the appointing authority as a matter of urgency.

President Museveni on returning back from UK where he has been on an official visit with his wife, Janet Museveni has started business with summoning the inspector general of police, Kale Kayihura to brief him what transpired in Bukoto South and led NRM to lose the parliamentary by elections to DP’s Mathias Nsubuga.

The sources privy to statehouse information told our reporters that Museveni had many interests in Bukoto South elections because the polls were not only between NRM’s Alintuma Nsambu and DP’s Nsubuga but the Kabaka of Buganda vs Museveni as a person. Before he left for England, sources say that Museveni had instructed Kayihura to manage security well and his blue eyed NRM cadres led by Madam Aisha Kabanda and Luweero district LC5 chairman, Abdul Naduli works on ensuring that the NRM candidate wins the polls.

The same sources also tell us that Hajji Naduli, Aisha Kabanda, and all the NRM cadres who were assigned to seek election victory for NRM in Bukoto South have been summoned to attend this meeting slated to sit on Saturday in Entebbe. Efforts to get a comment from Kayihura were futile. But one of the LC5 chairpersons who were key in wooing voters in Bukoto south to vote for Alintuma Nsambu told us that the meeting will also decide whether Nsambu challenges his election loss.

We have received with shock reports from Teso that the area cultural leader Emorimor Papa Augustine Osuban is facing forceful removal from his throne.

The plan to oust him is being championed by his very archival, Paphrous Imodot Edimu who is backed by a group of some royals in Teso. Edimu has told journalists in Teso that they have been forced to fight Emorimor because of his reported refusal to organise polls and pave way for his successor. Edimu says that the post of Emorimor is elective and that the current Emorimor has over stayed on the chair.

The term of office for the current Emorimor expired in 2009. The term of office for the Emorimors lasts for only five years. Edimu says that whenever they attempt to organise fresh elections, the current Emorimor uses police and area politicians to frustrate the function.

He says that last year the current Emorimor used the area RDC to disband the election of a new Emorimor which was to take place in Lukikho hall, in Soroti. Edimu however vows that the current Emorimori will be replaced by February this year. By Moureen Nakyanzi

It seems president Museveni security is growing from big to big all the time. Incapable sources at statehouse tell us that the president is now using two euro planes whenever he goes to areas like northern Uganda where his support on ground is questionable.

We hear that the president is using his usual presidential chopper and another small one we also hear it was donated to him by the former Libyan leader, Col. Muammar Gadaffi.

The plane was reportedly given to president Museveni to help him sweep the polls. The civilian chopper Russian made moves ahead of the presidential chopper, clearing the way before the presidential chopper lands on ground.  Last in northern Uganda when Museveni visited the area, the Russian made chopper would hover the sky hours before the presidential chopper landed.

After losing the last February 2011 parliamentary polls in Kampala Central division to NRM candidate, Mohammad Nsereko, Uganda music producer Eddy Yawe plans to shift to Kyadondo East and fight to replace FDC’s Ibrahim Nganda as area MP.

We have been told that Yawe has bought a chunk of land in Kireka and he is constructing a house in it. Sources say that Yawe wants to be a resident in Kyadondo East by the time the next general elections would take place.

We have heard that Yawe has realised that he will have no chance of winning Kampala Central MP seat considering the fame the area MP Nsereko has got at the grass root. Nsereko is a darling in Kampala due to his open critic of the ruling party and president Museveni in particular.

We have landed on shocking information that the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) of Col. Kiiza Besigye has run broke and most of its workers have not been paid their wages and salaries for the last three months.

A source at FDC intimated to our informer that Besigye’s party has not received donor funding since March. We are told that some leading donors of opposition parties in Uganda are not happy by the way FDC performed in last February general polls. Besigye has unsuccessfully contested thrice for president.

A source sitting on FDC National Executive Committee tells us that the money the party has been basing on to run its activities has been coming from Besigye as an individual.

It further explains that some of the donors give Besigye money as an individual and he is free to divert it to party activities or not. One of the leading FDC sponsors is conservative parties in US and Europe.

At the beginning of the month of September this year, the leadership of Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) announced as it was set to change its leadership direct from the village level to national level. The UYD electoral commission was being headed by Vincent Mayanja, the former parliamentary candidate in Lubaga south.

Mayanja had called upon all persons interested to take over the association’s leadership to hand in their application letters. The village polls were supposed to take place at the beginning of October and end in the first week of November this year. However, we have learnt that all this arrangement died in the bud and nothing took place.

When asked for a comment, the UYD secretary general, Samuel Kayayu Muyizzi explained that the polls would take place any time. He denied reports that UYD had failed to organise the polls.
