Activists under their umbrella body Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU) are asking government to halt the process of leasing out Namulonge land to businessman Sudhir Rupareria to grow flowers saying the said land is meant to be used by the research center for agricultural development.

Addressing journalists in Kampala today the Executive Director ACCU, Cissy Kagaba, stated that flowers are not among the crops being researched on by NARO and this will be out of order to give Premier Roses over 900 acres of land and disagrees with the reports that the research center has maintained land idle.

The activists now maintain that the research center has very little land to carry out research at Namulonge and giving away land to Prime Roses will in the long run affect the center and now call for clear policies on land giveaway to investors in the country.

Namulonge has 2020 acres of land that houses buildings, farms for both animals and plants with research facilities.
