Local leaders in Acholi sub region have confirmed that no new cases of nodding disease have been reported in the past few months.

The revelation was made by the Elders early today as President Yoweri Museveni unveiled Government plans to address social dislocation in Northern Uganda

The President said he was pleased with the development following the mass treatment campaign he launched against river blindness in March in Pader district.

Medical experts have linked the nodding disease to the Black fly which also causes river blindness, prompting the president to order for massive treatment and spraying.

Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) iron man, Col. Kiiza Besigye has told his cohorts in FDC that Uganda will not progress if there is no struggle to get ride of president Museveni’s government.

He says that those people who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation for it look like men and women who want crops without plowing up the soils, they want rain without thunder and lightening and want the money and food without working for it.

Besigye says that such people are like people who want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

He says that opposition struggle (4GC, A4C, DP and FDC…) may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical one, but it will remain a struggle that will one day liberate Ugandans.

Evan Lewis-Thomas Law Scholarships: The Council of Sidney Sussex College offers annually, for men and women of any nationality, a number of Evan Lewis-Thomas Law Studentships for research or advanced courses in Law or cognate subjects in the University of Cambridge.

The Evan Lewis-Thomas Law Studentships, which are subject to reviews of diligence and progress, are tenable for one year in the first instance but may be renewed annually, up to a maximum of three years.

Their value depends on the candidate’s needs in the light of support from other sources and on the availability of income from the Evan Lewis Thomas Fund.

Under the terms of the will of the late Judge Evan Lewis-Thomas, candidates must have shown proficiency in Law and Jurisprudence, normally by obtaining a university degree in Law, and they must be or become candidates for the Ph.D. Degree, the Diploma in Legal Studies, the Diploma in International Law, the M.Phil. Degree (one-year course) in Criminology, or the LL.M Degree.

Law Scholarship

If candidates of sufficient merit present themselves, elections will next be made to up to five Studentships (of between £1,000 and £3,000 per annum, reduced to £1,000 if full funding is obtained from another source).

Election to a Studentship may be made conditional upon satisfactory results in degree examinations and is in all cases conditional upon the person elected being accepted by the Board of Graduate Studies if he/she is a candidate for the Ph.D. Degree, the M.Phil. Degree or a Diploma, or by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Law if he/she is a candidate for the LL.M. Degree.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is prepared to charge Joseph Kony in case he has been arrested. Intelligence reports and the information the government is getting from satellites show that the LRA leader Joseph Kony is about to be arrested. As a consequence, Joseph Kony’s lawyers in Kampala have gone to Hague and settle with ICC a few issues.

A source tells us that Kony’s lawyer Caleb Alaka went to Hague on March 30th on sponsorship of an International human rights group/ organisation and Samuel Muyizzi Mulindwa leaves the country on 2nd April.

Sources tell us that Muyizzi and Caleb Alaka’s trip to Hague is intended to make them prepared to plead for LRA leader in case is truly arrested.

The Ugandan top criminal lawyers also have gone to Hague for a pre trial chamber of the ICC and they are expected to discuss several procedural matters and cases before this Court from the great lakes region and most especially matters touching the indictments of LRA top commanders.

They will also discuss the progress of the International Crimes Division (ICD) of the high court of Uganda, a special division created to try International related crimes and crimes against humanity.

My name is Fred Mukasa Mbidde, the legal advisor of the Democratic Party. I have evidence that some of our party members Simon Peter Ochene, Gerald Kobwemi, John Tumusiime among others are being used by the NRM government to destabilize the Democratic Party and I have written to the party to convene disciplinary committee meeting over the matter.

I will personally prosecute them with evidence for using NRM contacts and support to destabilize the progress of DP. They have been given lawyers Akampurira and company advocates and Enos Tumusiime of Kampala Associates all paid for by the NRM treasury through MP Singh Katongole.

They also go through two NRM persons I will name before the committee. There is one general of UPDF and one top police officer. The contacts points are at State House are already with me and I have copies of their signs at the visitors’ book of statehouse all which I will lay before the DP disciplinary committee to take action.

Some sections of Muslims and Christians in Uganda have been pleased by the way Iranis prepared for the battle against America. Ugandans say that America prepares to fight Iran because America is not happy with the speed at whichIranis developing in areas of industrialization, militarization and technological innovation.

Our reporters walked on the streets of Kampala and randomly asked Ugandans what they think about the anticipated war betweenIranandAmerica. Many of the respondents wishedIranto defeat America.

Sheikh Mohammad Musa of Kibuli Mosque says that a chance has come for Americato be challenged militarily and technologically. Sheikh Musa condemns America for being behind human loses inRwanda, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan among other countries. He wished its downfall. Another Ugandan Denis Matovu, a Christian and a trader on Kampala streets was no different from Mohammad Musa who was a Muslim.

He says that many people in the world are not happy with America’s negative plans on other countries. Matovu says that Americait seems is not happy with Iran’s progress in science and technology. It should also be noted that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his predecessor Akbar Rafsanjani are good friends of president Museveni and the ruling party in Uganda, the National Resistance Movement.

Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma has expressed his revulsion at the attacks on innocent people in Kano state, Nigeria, on 20 January 2012.

“We condemn these cowardly attacks, which have led to large-scale loss of life and critical injuries,” said the Secretary-General, who is on an official visit to Malawi.

“The perpetrators of this despicable crime have shown a callous disregard for the lives of their fellow citizens and for the peace, stability, integrity and progress of their country. I extend my personal condolences and sympathy together with those of the Commonwealth community at large to all those affected by these dreadful attacks. The Commonwealth stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Nigeria as the country grieves its loss, and works to address the challenges of terrorism, extremism and insecurity, manifested in the spate of such attacks in recent years.

“Terrorism is anathema to civilised society,” Mr Sharma stressed. “The Commonwealth’s shared view is that conflict and differences should be resolved, and indeed, can only be resolved sustainably through inclusive dialogue built on the foundations of mutual understanding and respect.”
