The chairperson of the Parliamentary Public Accounts committee Nandala Mafabi has won the African challenge foundation award for fighting corruption.

Nandal Mafabi beat President Yoweri Museveni, Alen Kagina, the Uganda revenue authority boss, and the Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura to take the award.

Receiving the award this morning at parliament, Nandala Mafabi thanked the other 19 committee members who he said inspired him to expose whoever was implicated in misappropriating of government funds.

Students in 22 prominent universities in Uganda that included Makerere University, Uganda Christian University in Mukono, Islamic university in Uganda among others were asked to nominate people in Uganda who are playing an exemplary role in fighting corruption.

Mafabi said he has a big challenge of working together with government organs formed by the executive. He says fighting corruption is not an easy task as it attracts many enemies.

Mafabi who is the MP for Budadiri says many MPs on his committee have been receiving threats over the CHOGM report that implicated many ministers in abusing public funds.
