The leader of opposition in parliament Nandala Mafabi who is currently contesting alongside Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Tororo Municipality MP Geoffrey Ekanya to replace Col. Kiiza Besigye as Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president is in Kyenjonjo district meeting party delegates.
Nandala asked FDC leaders and supporters to support his candidature to replace Besigye. But some of the party delegates asked him why he doesn’t leave Muntu to takeover from Besigye since he (Nandala) is still young and has more time to lead the party in future.
In retaliation Nandala told them that the youth are the leaders of tomorrow and that his tomorrow has come. Mafabi assured the FDC delegates that he will build strong and functional party structures that will help the party win next general elections.

Things are still not fine on the side of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Usuk County (in Katakwi) parliamentary by elections as the opposition candidates in the race are  performing and combing villages to get support while the government is still busy fighting amongst members on who is the rightful party candidate.
The NRM party leadership is busy fighting between Proscovia Alongot Oromait, the party flag bearer and Charles Olwenyi, the 2011 NRM flag bearer who stood as independent after NRM disregard him this time.
Olwenyi says that the ruling party broke its own constitution which was in favour of him but because of intrigue in the party, president Museveni’s party now has two candidates facing off with opposition candidates. However the race is still between three parties, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), NRM and the Democratic Party. The voting is on 12th September 2012.

The candidature of leader of opposition, Nandala Mafabi, former army commander Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Tororo municipality MP, Geoffrey Ekanya for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party Presidency heralds a new dawn in Uganda’s politics, call it a litmus test for both FDC as a political party and the country (Uganda) at large.
The candidature of Muntu and group is shaping up nicely and awakening deep seated anigmas in Uganda’s political trajectory.
Should Muntu win the race to replace Col. Kiiza Besigye as party president, a lot in Uganda’s (or FDC) politics will definitely change. Slightly abrasive, Muntu is witty, smart, quick and decisive a character many politicians hate to have preferring to appease everyone and in the end doing far less than their abilities.
Yes FDC delegates will have to make a choice between Muntu, Nandala and Ekyanya, where they will not gamble on a leader who will be rejected by the common man.
Winning any elective political seat in Uganda and across the world is about numbers. But the critics of Muntu argue that he would have been better but he doesn’t have Ugandan origins. Muntu is a Rwandese.
When you visit FDC head offices today, it is as if the race is between Muntu and Nandala. The party members claim that both candidates are too good and they have equally contributed towards the development of the party, so the onus is on them to choose the best party president.

There are three candidates in the race, Geoffrey Ekanya, Nandala Mafabi and Gen. Mugisha Muntu. Col. Kiiza Besigye, yesterday urged the people vying to replace him that they go through this internal democratic process united and again as a winning political home to all Ugandans who are looking at the process with keen interest and great expectations, above all, looking at FDC as a ruling party in waiting.

Besigye says that the candidates in the race have to deliver and remain united in this campaign process and post the internal democratization. Col. Besigye says that FDC needs a person to replace him be capable of serving FDC, walk FDC, and be a  magnet in attracting millions of people to join the party and work for the common good of all Ugandans.

President Museveni has received a shocking report narrating how the ruling party, NRM lost last week’s parliamentary by election to an opposition candidate. The highly contested race was won by Paul Mwiru of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). The report shows that FDC used smear campaign to defeat NRM candidate, Nathan Igime Nabeta.

For example, the report shows that the FDC members from the northern Uganda lied the people of northern Uganda who are voters in Jinja that Nabeta gave out free transport to people who wanted to grab land from northern Uganda. This angered them and vowed not to support Nabeta anymore.

The report also shows that FDC lied to the fishermen that it was Nabeta who introduced the tax levied on their boats. The report goes further to allege that NRM lost the polls because of the corruption among public officials. Lastly the report shows that some of the NRM members refused to support the ruling party candidate and instead supported an opposition candidate.

The former Mayot of Kampala, Hajji Nasser Sebaggala has said that president Museveni used him to fight the Democratic Party promising to make him great in the country’s politics.

In a shocking revelation to his supporters on Saturday at his Bugolobi home, Sebaggala said he was not happy with president Museveni.

“He used me to fight DP and later wooed me out of DP promising to make me a minister but instead used parliament to block my appointment,” one of his supporters who attended the meeting quoted him as saying.

Sebaggala has started saying that president Museveni is a traitor. He says that the president can give you something with the right hand and takes it away with the left hand. Sebaggala likens Museveni with the former DP President John Sebaana Kizito.

Sebaggala says Sebaana persuaded him to pull out of the 2006 presidential race promising to support him for Mayorship but instead supported his rival, Hajji Takuba Kibirige. Fortunately Sebaana won the race for Mayor that time.
