The film gives inspiration to East African environmental movements, social change, civil disobedience, and political reform and can be screened in communities throughout Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya and South Sudan particularly those people/communities most affected by land grabs, violent repression…

The Chairperson of civil society organisations on oil and gas Enock Nimpami says in the recently passed oil bills, it is stipulated that the indigenous people will get 7 % of the oil proceeds but the government has not come out to discuss this issue with the locals.

Nimpami says that this campaign is meant to ensure the issues raised are tackled comprehensively before the actual oil production begins.

He adds that the outcome of the retreat will be taken to the communities where prospecting is ongoing, for further discussions.

The retreat is organized by International Alert in collaboration with other organisations like Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment, African Institute Energy Governance and Green Watch among others.

Many people use gingers while preparing their tea but still many of them don’t know its benefits to human beings.
So because of this our news desk decided to bring you the benefits of ginger to people who use it as a delicacy. Gingers are called ‘entangawuzi’ in Luganda. Luganda is one of the main languages spoken by millions of people in Uganda, east Africa.
Ginger is so popular both as culinary and medical herb. Dr. Aisha Rashid Lukwago, of Lukwago herbal services says that unlike most spices, ginger has the most culinary and medical values. It grows underground and it’s called the rhizome. It is often mistakenly called ginger root. Ginger is so helpful for people who experience nausea such as pregnant women. It also alleviates other digestive complications like gas and indigestion and is good for rousing appetite.
Ginger is more so useful for relieving colds, helps to reduce cholesterol in the body and it is more effective when lemon is added. The doctors say that smaller indigenous of gingerare more potent than the large exotic one, and so they should always be chosen for medical purposes.

Millions of people around the world lose appetite and die after their bodies generate toxic materials.

However our media team today decided to bring you how you can revive lost appetite and rid the body of toxins with white radish.

White radish is commonly called ‘daikon, or Mooli or muli.’ White radish traces its origins to Asia, according to Dr. Aisha Rashid Lukwago of Rashid Lukwago herbal clinic in Kampala.

She says that white radish is rich in vitamins B and C complex, carotene, fiber, moisture and carbohydrates. Hajjat Aisha says that white Radish has a strong antibacterial property that combats cancers; it increases the kidneys’ ability to produce urine as it has diuretic effect. White radish exists in different types for example white, red, purple or black and each has different medical values.

Aisha says that the root of white radish is used for making juices. The plant is mainly grown in west and East Africa. A kilogramme of white radish in Uganda costs between 3000 to 5000 shillings in markets, groceries and some supermarkets.

Kampala woman Member of Parliament Nabila Nagayi Ssempala is improving following last Friday evening’s road accident involving her car and a police patrol van.

The Doctors at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) have scanned her to establish the actual root of the pain she has been complaining since Friday.

The MP’s car rammed into a police vehicle along Namirembe road in Kampala near Sanyu Babies Home on her way back from an opposition rally at Wankulukuku stadium.

The Kampala woman MP slammed her chest-first on the car board followed by her head. With the help of Dr. Kizza Besigye of Forum for Democratic Change, Nabillah was rushed to Kampala International Hospital in a critical condition.

Our informer visited the hospital today and the doctors told him that she has started to speak and to open her eyes. The doctors say that the MP will be discharged if she improves well.

After losing the last February 2011 parliamentary polls in Kampala Central division to NRM candidate, Mohammad Nsereko, Uganda music producer Eddy Yawe plans to shift to Kyadondo East and fight to replace FDC’s Ibrahim Nganda as area MP.

We have been told that Yawe has bought a chunk of land in Kireka and he is constructing a house in it. Sources say that Yawe wants to be a resident in Kyadondo East by the time the next general elections would take place.

We have heard that Yawe has realised that he will have no chance of winning Kampala Central MP seat considering the fame the area MP Nsereko has got at the grass root. Nsereko is a darling in Kampala due to his open critic of the ruling party and president Museveni in particular.
