MuseveniPresident Yoweri Museveni has said there are five employment sectors that the youth can exploit to prosper; commercial agriculture, factories, Services, ICT and the Public Service.

“You should get involved in productive sectors such as agriculture for wealth creation through big or small enterprises such as maize mills, weaving, textiles, services such as hotels and shops, motor cycles (Boda bodas) and through ICT,” he said.

The President was addressing a group of NRM Youth Chairpersons from Central Region at a meeting held at State House Entebbe.

The Central Region Youth MP Patrick Nakabale who led the delegation commended the president for making time to meet with them and said that they are committed to supporting government programmes in as far as wealth creation and industrialization goes for the benefit of all Ugandans.

Hon. Rose Namayanja the new NRM party Treasurer and former Minister of Information at and National Guidance and the Northern Youth MP Evelyn Anite who is also the newly appointed Minister of State for Children and Youth Affairs attended the meeting.

Members of Parliament from Buganda region have decided to call off the election of the new office bearers citing the lack of knowledge of each other.

The decision comes from a cross section of members expressing their worries that a number of them were not familiar with each other both in capacity and in name.

The Buganda caucus is currently chaired by Minister of state for Luwero Rose Namayanja, deputized by Kawempe North MP Latif Ssebaggala. Other committee members did not make it to the 9th Parliament.

The elections had been widely expected to take place today with the race for the chair being between Kampala central MP and NRM youth winger Hajj Nsereko Mohammed taking on the former Vice Chair person Latif Ssebaggala.

The elections have been postponed to a period of two weeks to give room for members to acquaint themselves with each other.

Arrangements to have the new Buganda caucus leadership are under way. This was announced by the vice chairperson of the caucus who is also the mp for Kawempe north Latif Sebagala.

Sebagala told journalists at parliament that they were still waiting for MPs to settle down and therefore as soon as they settle the caucus meeting will be convened.

He says that they have been having leadership in the 8th parliament and therefore they have to get the new leadership for the 9th parliament. The former Chairperson, Rose Namayanja was named a Minister for Luwero Triangle.

Sebagala officially announced his intentions to stand as the chairperson of the Buganda parliamentary caucus. Sebagala says that he has been serving as the vice chairperson in the last parliament and therefore he can now serve as the chairperson better.

He says that if trusted with the position, he will start from where the last committee stopped.  Sebagala says that he will make sure that he serves the caucus without fear or favor and he will be the voice of all the members. He calls upon all the MPs from Buganda to show their solidarity as they are handling Buganda issues.

Kampala Mayor - Nasser Ssebagala

Kampala city council in collaboration with local council leaders and police has embarked on registering all residents in the city as one of the ways to prevent terrorist attacks.

The development comes two days after bomb blasts hit Kampala city killing a over 76 people, scores injured and property worth millions of shillings destroyed.

The Deputy Mayor of Kampala, Rose Namayanja says the registration is to help in identifying particulars of both citizen and foreigners in the city.

Namayanja says that it going to be mandatory for every village leader to posses’ registration of their residents for security purposes.
