About 250 youths from Luwero have benefited from Youth Saving Clubs that Save the Children started in the district in 2008.

The project aimed at developing the potential of young people age of 13-20 years of age to manage their financial resources effectively has improved financial literacy and enhanced savings of the youth in

Luwero.

The Chairperson of Ristaka High School Youth Savings Club says for the period he has been part of the club he has managed to pay his school fees for the whole of about 300,000 buy stationery and a few text books.

The Project Coordinator of Save the Children in Uganda, Julie Bayiga says the primary objective of the project is to link financial education with practical learning experience such that young people can be helped to build financial assets for their own.

She says so far the project is achieving its objective with most youths in the clubs owning some assets which they can easily turn into money to meet their financial needs.
