Helping an autistic child (Kasiru) improve speech is very important. Encourage the child to expand their utterance by repeating what they say though you should add some words, if the child gives grammatically wrong sentence.

Respond with correct grammar instead of asking the child to repeat the correct word. Congratulate the child when he communicates correctly. If the child’s language confuses you, give feedback requesting that he/she helps you understand. If the child has difficulty organising what he/she wants to say, provide a structured question e.g tell me where you went over the weekend.

Encourage the child to increase his expressions by asking open-ended questions and encourage them to comment on what they say. Allow extra time for the child to think and formulate a responce. The cause of autism is not known although studies in most universities around the world including Oxford University point to genetic and environmental changes.

Its symptoms may appear during infancy and the disorder is diagnosed at the age of thee years and these are: lack of eye contact, you could not share or relate emotions, inability to converse, repetitive use of words, echoing words without meaning.

Other symptoms are absence of imaginative play typical to 2 year age group, intense concentration while playing with child colleagues and compulsive engagement in activities that served no purpose.

According to Florence Buluba, the Executive Director of the National Community of women Living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda, NACWOLA, culturally women are looked at as inferior with no powers or rights. She says this perception and belief has rendered a lot of women vulnerable to contracting HIV.

The Uganda Health Indicator survey 2011 shows that women still have the highest HIV prevalence rates among women has increased from 7.5% to 8.3% among women compared to an increase from 5 to 6.1% among men.

Buluba says because of poverty, women do not have a say or control over the number of spouses a man should have, since they look at the men as their only source of survival and many women do not want to change the status quo.

Doctors tell us that a certain amount of vaginal discharge (mucus produced) is normal. They say that the vaginal walls and uterine cervix contain glands that produce small amounts of fluid that helps to keep the vagina clean.

The fluid is usually clear or milky white and does not have a horrible smell. The increase in the amount of vaginal discharge, and consistency of the fluid, pain, itching can be symptoms of infection.

Women have to make sure that their private parts are kept in good hygiene and if symptoms persist they need to see a physician for proper examination and treatment.

Democratic Party (DP) Deputy organising secretary, who is also the deputy lord mayor, Sulaiman Kidandala has asked the inspector general of police, Kale Kayihura and president Museveni to stop brutalizing their people using all tools of coercion at their disposal.

Kidandala says that the fallen Ethiopian Premier Meles Zenawi was brutal, merciless, power hungry and blood thirsty; terrorized his opponents, gagged the Media and fundamentally killed all freedoms using the guns.

But in his final hours, Kidandala says, the guns could not help Zenawi or even defend him. Kidandala asks Kayihura and Museveni to respect and understand peoples’ interests. He says that people may mourn the dead but never will they mourn or forget brutal autocrats as a matter of principle.
