]]> David Duli World Wide Fund for NatureThe country director World Wide Fund for Nature David Duli has urged Ugandans and the government to increase the use of renewable energy sources to help check on the rampant environmental degradation in Uganda.
Speaking at the ceremony to mark the 7th Ugandan earth hour at Serena Hotel in Kampala, David emphasized that the current sources of energy used by Ugandans are unfriendly to the environment and have in turn negatively affected the climate change in the country.
WWF also raises concern that very little is done by Ugandan communities to save the environment thus avert potential climate change calamities that may sometimes lead to loss of lives and property.
Over 96% of energy demand for Uganda comes from bio-mass which is reflected in the 6000 hectares of forest lost annually and which WWF believes can be stopped if better and improved energy sources are embraced by Ugandans.
Earth hour is a time when environmentalists come together to reflect and lay better strategies to save the environment in Uganda and across the globe.

]]> President Museveni has directed police to beef up security at Serena Hotel Kampala and Imperial Royale Hotel Kampala and around parliament. Why? This is because police have to give security to over 2,000 delegates who are expected to converge inKampalanext week to participate in the Inter- Parliamentary Union Conference.

The conference is going to be hosted by the Parliament of Uganda and hundreds of MPs fromEngland,South Africa, and USA etc will be inUgandato deliberate on matters of access to health, good governance and distribution of power.

The delegates, according to the Speaker of Parliament, Ms Rebecca Kadaga will be accommodated in Kampalahotels when they come. The March 28th conference will take place at the Kampala Serena and Imperial Royale Hotels.
