The Member of Parliament for Buvuma county Migadde Ndugwa has asked government to work out a programme to eliminate fake seeds which have flooded Ugandan market.

Speaking to journalists at parliament migadde said that farmers buy packed seeds from shops recommended by government and used to supply seeds to farmers in NAADS programme but the seeds cannot last for some time as they wait for planting after clearing their gardens.

He said that farmers buy seeds which they think are treated against insect but in only one month they get attacked by pest and cause them to lose their money.

He also expressed concern over the high cost of the treated seeds for farmers yet their produce is bought at low price.

He said that a kilogram of maize is bought at 750 shillings by a farmer from shops selling treated seeds and after their harvested they sell it at 250 shillings.

He proposed that government should help farmers through cooperatives to have milling factories in each parish to enable farmers in processing their harvested food.

A sales representative with Uganda Breweries only identified as Kenneth was yesterday spotted at Wallet Pub in Kisugu,Kampaladown loading litres of saliva down the throat of a woman. Our informers in the field have reported that the sex thirsty Kenneth sucked the girl’s mouth like a vacuum cleaner.

At around 9:00 diminishing Ugandan singer Raga Dee was struggling to impress the revelers but Kenneth was busy struggling to impress this blown woman with all the toughest love vocabulary possible reportedly with a mission of shopping her for at least a night. Kenneth and the girl downed a number of bottles ofNilebeer while listening to the tunes of Raga Dee’s music.

Till later at night, Kenneth and the party animal gal grabbed each other as Raga Dee sang a song which had the words ‘sambagala’ (kick). After a few moments later, the two did not wait the show to end. They were seen leaving Wallet pub to an known destination.

Hundreds of shops in Kampala, Mityana and Masaka are still closed for a second day as thousands of traders remain seated on the verandas of their closed shops.

The security in Kampala as usual is tight and the policemen are going on to arrest the people they suspect to be mobilizing traders to become violent.

Most of the closed shops in Kampala are located on Luwum, William, Ben Kiwawuka, and Johnson Street and on Kampala road. The strike started on Wednesday and it will last for three days.

The leaders of the traders in Uganda say that if the government doesn’t ask banks to reduce the high interest charges on loans, the strike will go ahead in a violent manner.

By the time our reporters filed this report, the traders leaders were in a meeting with president Museveni. The meeting between Museveni and the traders has taken place at state house Nakasero.

In the meeting Museveni asked the traders not to become violent as the government is looking into their concerns. The traders also asked Museveni to hasten to look into their concerns. Ends

The commercial banks operating in Uganda charge over 27% on loans. Our reporters in Mityana, Kampala and Mubende among other districts have told us that most of the shops in Kampala and other districts have not opened today amidst the government requests to them to open the shops.

The spokesman of Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), Issa Sekitto has told us that they will continue with the strike for the next three days until the government directs commercial banks to reduce the interest rates. The government deployed soldiers to threaten traders not to open shops in vain.
