New MPs were sworn in on Thursday. They were Usuk county MP (Katakwi District), Hon. Proscovia Alengot Oromait. She is the first youngest MP in Africa.

Alengot was sworn in as new MP for Usuk County by Uganda Parliament Speaker Hon. Rebecca Kadaga but she amused parliament when she first flashed the NRM thumb sign shortly after taking her oath and when she was facing the opposition bench the opposition MPs welcomed her by flashing the FDC ‘V’ (two finger ) sign.

Alengot flashed back with the FDC sign and this threw the entire house into laughter and excitement from the opposition bench and even the Leader of opposition Nandala Mafabi was seen smiling from west to east.
