The Uganda Prisons has registered an improvement in the performance of prisoners in the just released Primary Leaving Examinations results.

The Prisons’ publicist, Frank Beine says out of the 69 candidates who sat for PLE last year, 7 got first grade; 31 got 2nd grade while 13 were in 3rd division 3.

In division 4, 6 inmates got 4th grade, 3 were in Division U while 9 missed the examinations.

Beine says Semakula Frank was the best student with a total of Aggregate 8, having scored 2 aggregates in English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science.

Those who got aggregate 9 include Abele Asuman, Okello Vincent John and Ziraba Daniel.

Solomon Ahimbisibwe got Aggregate 11, having scored 3 in English, 3 in Science, 2 in Social Studies and 3 in Mathematics.

Kizza David Willington and Abubaker Hassan both scored 12 aggregates.

Among those in Division X, having not sat any of the examinations are Opolot John Stephen, Sam Drichi Edema, Justus Andrew Tukamushaba, Ibrahim Ruhweza and Stephen Opus.

Others are Moses Musisi, Peter Kiiza, Alaali Jackson and Agaba Richard.

Beine says the Upper Prisons School garnered a 95% success rate in the 2011 examinations.
