Geoffrey Ssenabulya, a 22 year-old resident of Sembabule, is nursing serious wounds at Mulago hospital after being burnt by his father.

The incident happened in Matete Sembabule district yesterday.

Ssenabulya says his father poured petrol in the house and ordered him to enter before setting it on fire inflicting serious burns on his face.

He adds that his father identified as Eddie Kintu later committed suicide by taking poison.

It is not clear what drove Kintu to act in such a strange manner though according to Ssenabulya his father could have been under the influence of drugs.

It is like now a habit for African dictators to position their sons and close family members to replace them after their death.  In Black Africa, Equatorial Guinea’s President is also grooming his son to succeed him at the helm of this tiny but oil-ric African country.

The repression is very brutal in Equatorial Guinea and the son of Teodoro Obiang has all the characteristics of his father. The foreign oil companies that operate inEquatorial Guinea are all too happy to give full backing to Tedoro Obiand, and even the American authorities in Washington, D.C. play alloying, probably with the oil company lobbyists holding their elbow.

In North Africa, we had the examples of Mubarak in Egypt, who was also grooming his son Gamal, and late Col. Muammar Gadaffi in Libya, who was grooming his son Saif-alIslam. Indeed not elaborate; the facts are very well known.

In other cases where sons are not overtly being groomed by dictators who have been in power for decades, a brother might be the one who is being groomed (that was the case with Bingu Wa Mutharika of Malawi until he suddenly died recently), or explicit or covert tactics are being used to anoint the sitting dictator as President for life. This is the case in Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon andUganda where president Museveni is positioning his son Muhoozi to takeover from him.

As in the case of Equatorial Guinea, White predators from developed countries capitalize on the abominable practice to carryout private or State-sponsored “humantarian interventions”, one notable example being the coup in Equatorial Guinea that Margaret Thatcher’s son mark and a handful of mercenaries attempted to seize the country’s oil resources. The rationale was that, Teodoro Obiang being an ‘oppressor’ of his people, the Whites were performing their “civilizational duty”, by substituting themselves for Teodoro Boinag.

In Uganda itself, foreign oil companies have been trying to twist Museveni’s arm. Don’t be surprised if, when protests at the grooming of his son erupts, Museveni tells his people that his son is the one best-suited to fend off foreign designs, and the people should choose whether they want foreign oppressors to seize their oil resources, or have his son rule with a firm hand but “in the “interest of the country”.

A family of one of the cadres of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) split over a son who joined opposition Forum for Democratic Change to work with Col. Kiiza Besigye.

Hajji Abdul Nadduli’s son, Juma Nadduli separated with his dad Nadduli over Besigye. The son announced that he had joined FDC to support Besigye and Nadduli, the NRM chairman in Luweero told him that that was impossible because their family was part of the ruling party.

The son however told Nadduli what was on his mind. Juma told Nadduli that he was to join Besigye and escort him wherever he goes. Nadduli was overheard telling his pals that Juma is determined not to turn back.

Juma’s action reminds us of a boy Martin Luther King talks about who was been refused by his dad to join the Negros struggle and the boy told the Dad that “if u lock me I will jump the fence, if you are to punish me, I will take the punishment. I am not walking for freedom I am also walking for you dad and mum, I want you to get freedom before you die.”

Cases of people impersonating top government officials in a bid to embezzle funds is on increase in the third East African economy, Uganda . We are told that most of the con men mainly impersonate army generals, ministers and MPs.

For instance, the police have today arrested a 19 year old student from Ntale school while impersonating Gen. Salim Saleh. Mike Mugarura was arrested by the police in Mbarara as he was conning a man in Mbarara of 250,000 shillings. Mugarura had introduced himself to this man of Rwandan origin that he was Gen. Salim Saleh and he would help his son to get a job at Bank of Uganda if he gave him 250,000 shillings.

Mugarura’s luck ran out as he had gone to collect the money and the police arrested him instead. He was arrested after the Rwandan man told one of his friends that Gen. Saleh was going to pick 250,000 from him.

His friend wondered how Saleh would collect 250,000 shillings just to get someone a job. The friend to this Rwandan man told him that Mugarura was a conman so they tipped police which arrested him on the arrival.
