It seems the European colonialists who introduced the divide and rule policy in Uganda made a very bad mistake. The policy has been carried on in post independence Uganda to an extent that some people lose their lives as the political sadists implement the policy.

The divide and rule policy has ‘killed’ the unity of Ugandans. Almost all Ugandans no longer believe in a united Uganda but along ethnic lines, religion, regions of origin, race and kingdoms.  One of the professors at Makerere University recently argued that if Ugandans are given a choice to walk out of Uganda, they do it in happiness. After dividing Buganda Kingdom into smaller rival units, the enemies of United Uganda have now taken the onus to Tooro kingdom.

Tooro kingdom is now so divided to an extent that King Oyo Nyimba can not tour his kingdom with out too much security. The members of the rival traditional institutions created in Tooro kingdom plot to kill him. Some elders in Tooro kingdom told our informers that before president Museveni captured power from the legitimate government of late Milton Apollo Obote, most of the areas in Uganda including Tooro were very much united.

But president Museveni’s government introduced in the divide and rule policy in the names of creating new districts.  In the case of Tooro kingdom, the people of Ntoroko District vow to block the king of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba from visiting their district whenever the king wishes to do so. The residents of Rwebisengo Sub-county have also broken away from Tooro kingdom saying that they are not part of Tooro kingdom because they have different cultures. The people of Rwebisengo belong to an ethnic group called Batuku.

Splitends occur when the peoples’ hair’s cuticle wears down. However they can be repaired if trimmed well.

Almost anyone who goes too long without trimming her hair will have split ends. Hair split can be 2 to 3 centimeters in length and normally split into 2 or 3 strands.

It is advisable to trim your hair for at least one inch above a split end and one quarter inch every 6 to 8 weeks to prevent further splitting of your hair. Today in history! It was like today when the soldiers under the Milton Obote II regime reportedly split pregnant women’s bellies.

The LC5 chairperson of Luweero district, Hajji Abdul Nadduli recalls that during that time some people had their hands and lips cut.

He also recalls that some soldiers in Obote II regime would rape women and go away without being charged.

Nadduli likens the acts of Obote’s soldiers with those of LRA rebels. He says that LRA soldiers reportedly rapped women, kidnapped people and displaced millions of others.
