Parliament Swearing inTwelve ministers appointed by president Museveni have taken oath in Parliament as ex- officials.

The ministers include Ruhakana Rugunda, Monica Azuba Ntegge, Joy Kabatsi, Janat Mukwaya, Philemon Mateke, Janet Kataaha Museveni, Beti Kamya and Florence Nakiwala. Others are  Dr. Jane Acen, William Byaruhanga, Abdul Nadduli, and Alex Onzima. Six ex-officials missed the swearing in and these include Kahinda Otafire, David Tumukunde, Peace Mutuuzo who is the minister of state for Gender, Kirunda Kivejinja, Agness Okroro and Irene Muloni.
The deputy Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah who was presiding over the House asked the ex-officials of parliament to perform their duties diligently in service of all Ugandans. Oulanyah also handed each of the ex-officials a copy of the constitution and rules of procedure of Parliament.

FDC Presidential candidate today swore himself in as President of Uganda amid unclear circumstances. With a day left to the official swearing ceremony of President elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Ugandans were taken by surprise as video emerged of Colonel Besigye swearing in. It’s earlier noted that outspoken Opposition leader has been under heavy police detention at his residence in Kasangati and news of swear in took everyone by storm.

As the country prepare’s for the Official swearing in at Kololo Independence grounds on 12/5/2016 dignitaries and Heads of State have started arriving in the country amid tight security deployed on all major roads.

Social media sites has also been shut down in the country as a security measure  despite backlash from the public who witnessed the same feat during the election period in February this year. A derictive from Regulatory body Uganda Communication Commission was issued out a statement on the closure of these sites as per Government directive.

Kadaga swearing in as speaker

The swearing in of Members of the 10th Parliament has been scheduled for Monday 16th to Wednesday 18th May, 2016. The  Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga  revealed this in her  communication to parliament. She told  Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige  to  communicate to new Members of Parliament on Friday May 13, 2016 about the swearing in, which shall follow alphabetical order.

On the three days, each of the Members will take the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of a Member of Parliament, respectively. The five year term of the current 9th Parliament commenced in May 2011 and will end in May 2016.

Speaker Kadaga advised new members of parliament to avoid staff from various banks, and money lenders who will approach them seeking to advance them loans.

Kirunda Kivejinja swearing-in last month

The new Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs Kirunda Kivejinja has taken oaths of Allegiance and of Member of Parliament. Kirunda Kivejinja, 80, was last month appointed by the President to the position. The portfolio has been vacant since the death of  Eriya Kategeya in 2013.

Kirunda Kivejinja who is now an Ex-officio MP swore to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Uganda and to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. He also swore to give faithful service to Parliament. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga welcomed the new Member and advised him to serve the country objectively.
Kirunda Kivejinja has ever represented Bugweri County in Parliament. He has in the past also served as Minister of Relief and Social Rehabilitation and of Internal Affairs.
