Kihika was appearing before Parliament’s Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises along with current MD Winston Agaba and acting Board of Directors Chairperson, Simon Kaheru to answer queries raised in the 2014-2015 auditors general’s report.

The committee discovered that Kihiika during the time he served at the national broadcaster bought 10 movies meant to air on the television and that this never happened since the movies were in Chinese language.

The Committee Chaired by its deputy, Anita Among the Bukedea Woman representative has also learnt that the broadcasting corporation never remitted over 500 million shillings collected from staff as National Social Security Fund’s contributions.

Kihiika was temporarily detained and only released after recording a statement with the CID unit and police.

The world has mourned an American man who reportedly died of cocaine overdose in Uganda’s capital city Kampala. Jeff Rice died over the weekend and a postmortem report issued today indicated that he died of suspected cocaine overdose. America is one of the countries in the world that fights against the use of cocaine and it’s a shock that one of its citizens has died of suspected cocaine overdose.

Police spokesman, Asuman Mugyenyi says that results from laboratories indicated that there was too much concentration of cocaine in the deceased’s stomach. Mugyenyi says that in the beginning police suspected Rice to have died of food poisoning.

Rice was a freelance producer for a reality TV show dubbed ‘The Amazing Race.’ He was found dead in a Kampala hotel room while his production assistant, Catherine Fuller was unconscious in another room.

The Amazing Race TV show is a reality television game where a team of people competes with another to arrive first at a certain destination. The reality TV show is broadcast on a number of television stations in different parts of the world including Uganda.

As Ugandans prepare for the festive season normally characterized by busying desired items and good eating, some corporate organizations are helping the less fortunate to be in festive mood during the season.

Star Times Digital Television Company has given out assorted items worth 5 million shillings to the Mapera Bakateyamba a home of poor and disadvantaged people in Nalukolongo.

Star Times TV Marketing Manager Simon Arinaitwe says as a corporate company that draws profits from the community, it is obliged to give back to the people especially at this festive season where values of love and sharing are emphasized.

Arinaitwe handed over assorted items including food, detergents, and a television set with Star Times Subscription for ten years to help in the running of the home of the disadvantaged people.

The Assistant Administrator at Bakateyamba Home, Sister Hellen Kobushinge said that the assistance comes in handy because the facility is limited by funds to cater for a big number of disadvantaged people with different forms of disabilities.

The Mapera Bakateyaba Home that was started by Cardinal Nsubuga in 1977 under the Catholic Church currently caters for 80 elderly, clipped and poor people.
