In order to bridge the human resource gap in the country’s health system, government will be recruiting 3000 health workers before the end of this financial year.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. Asumani Lukwago revealed that the ministry is about to receive 5.8 Billion shillings to cater for the recruitment of health workers in order to enhance medical service delivery in the country

This comes amidst a public outcry over the shortage of health workers in the country which has negatively affected the country’s health care service provision

Lukwago explains that out 3000 health workers to be recruited, 300 will be doctors.

The Permanent Secretary also noted that in the next financial year the ministry contemplates deploying  at least  four specialists in each of the refurbished general hospitals  across the country.
