Ragae Legend Bob Marley in Uganda is ‘worshiped’ by Rastafarians, thieves and robbers

On Wednesday 6^th February 2013 was another Birthday of the fallen Ragae Legend Bob Marley. The singer was one of the major promoters of the Rastafarian Movement around the world.

The movement came about after Ethiopia (one of the African countries) defeated Italy’s Mussolini in 1936 when the Italian had come to revenge the Battle of Adoa in 1898 so as to rewrite history.

Ras Fara (Halie Selassie), the Leader then after the defeat became a hero among the black both in Africa and the diaspora. But many Rastafarians in Uganda think to be a true Rastafarian one has to smoke Marijuana, swallow gut, and steal peoples’ products, murder and carryout a series of raping. However the Rastafarian movement was a movement of promoting African Nationalism.

Bob Marley was born in the village of Nine Mile in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica 6^th Feb 2013 would have been Marley’s 65th birthday. Late Bob Marley made his reggae music to uplift Africans, inform, entertain, inspire, and make change in the world. Bob Marley was a musician, a poet and songwriter, a philosopher, a soldier, an African activist and a leader.

Ministry of health names GAVI fund thieves

The permanent secretary of the ministry of Health Dr Asuman Lukwago has finally tabled the list of the people who have returned Gavi funds to the public accounts committee of parliament.

Yesterday the officials from the ministry of health were thrown out of the committee after they presented contradicting documents regarding the matter.

The list shows that former health minister Jim Muhwezi has failed to refund over 478 million shillings but the same documents indicate that former health state minister Mike Mukula refunded 192 million shillings.

The officials however did not produce evidence from the central bank to support the claim.

The committee was also stunned to hear for the first time that all the personal assistants for the former three health ministers also took a share on the Gavi funds.

The mps wondered why all the personal assistants Sam Barasa, Dan Kalule and Simon Kagumire were instead transferred to other ministers instead of taking action against them.

The permanent secretary for the ministry of health Asuman Lukwago has promised to write to all those who took the GAVI funds to refund the money.

Beware of thieves using needles to sedate their victims

Don’t just shake the hands of a stranger. We received this from a concerned person and thought we would share.
Please be informed that armed thieves have recently come up with a more “efficient” method of disarming people.
They extend their Arm for a handshake after asking for directions, making it seem as though
they are thanking their victim but they have a needle, dipped in some sort of sedative, under their sleeve that makes one feel drowsy.
When their victim falls asleep, this seems to the general public as one who has fainted; they go ahead and move their victim to a convenient location posing as Good Samaritans, only to rob them!
Other than the loss of personal effects, there is also the risk of Contracting HIV/Aids or
hepatitis since the needles in use are highly Unlikely to be sterile!

Police warns on new wave of thieves who give drug induced foodstuffs

Police have asked people to be on alert of thieves and thugs who have struck the different parts of the country. Due to the high deployment of the police and the army, the thugs are now resorting to giving food laced with sleeping inducing drugs to incapacitate guards and break into shops, financial institutions and steal items.

The latest intelligence reports the senior police detectives have given to the Inspector General of Police, Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura indicates that the thugs mix fast foods like chips, chapatti and eggs (rolex) and chicken with sleeping inducing drugs and give it to night guards, dogs and house maids before they carry out the robbery.

For instance thugs broke into a factory and two forex bureaus in Entebbe recently and robbed millions of shillings using the same tricks.

The Entebbe police commander, Edgar Nyabongo says many people have been arrested in connection with such incidents and urged the members of the public to be extra vigilant. Nyabongo says that the thugs are using people’s friends to offer them drugged food before they appear to carry out the robbery.

Thieves sweep former president’s home clean

Insurance companies will have to come to the rescue of the former Makerere University Guild president because we hear thugs last night swept his home in Nakasero when he was away for burial in Gulu.

When Denis Okema returned home with his family, his house was wide open with no trace of his property, save for rolls of toilet pepper.

Like he was possessed Okema rushed to neighbours and shouted ‘my house has been swept clean and all the property stolen.’

The neighbours also came and checked his house and found it empty. Okema has now reported the matter to the area police post and as usual the force is hunting for the thugs. The police are yet to nab the people who stole Okema’s property.
