Uganda Primary health care state minister James Kakooza

The government of Uganda is planning to borrow 30 million dollars from World Bank to renovate and equip hospitals in Uganda.

The State Minister for Primary Care, James Kakooza said today that they are waiting for the parliament to approve the loan.

Kakooza said that most government hospitals are in dilapidated situation as most of them were constructed in the 50s and they are without sufficient medicine to cater for expectant mothers.

He said that on receiving the money, the government will start renovations on hospitals along the roads and equipping them with medicines and other necessary facilities.

Uganda recently hosted two conferences, the African Union heads of State Summit and the Commonwealth Women Parliamentary Association both of which focused on the need to improve maternal health in Uganda and Africa as a whole.
