The Deputy Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) secretary General for policy and research Augustine Ruzindana, has described the June 20th 2010 National prayer and repentance day declared by Uganda President Yoweri Museveni as ‘a self-serving political exercise’.

Uganda president Yoweri Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni

He says no government official repented for corruption and killings of unarmed civilians in Kampala during riots.

In a media statement seen by Ultimate Media, Ruzindana says that God can never listen to prayers ordered by ‘a president whose rule is characterised by routine violation of the rights of God’s creatures.’

Uganda opposition politicians have been accusing president Museveni government of corruption, violation of human rights, political oppression and tribalism among others.

The FDC stalwart says that Uganda faithfulls should never allow to be used by Uganda leaders for such political events because they have their specific days and places to communicate with God.

Uganda is predominantly a religious country with over 90 percent of the population either Christians or Muslims. Their vote will determine who wins the coming Uganda 2011 elections.
