The management of the Uganda National Theatre which is also the Uganda Cultural Centre have called upon the Uganda government to establish 4 regional cultural centers across the country to beef up the role played by the national theatre in promoting cultural development in Uganda.

Analysts believe that Uganda National Theatre has lost its former glory it enjoyed back in the days when plays at the National Theatre would attract huge number of people.

The reduction in numbers is putting the Uganda theatre industry at stake thus reducing the development of Uganda cultures and traditions.

The Director of Uganda National Theatre Joseph Walugembe told Journalists in Kampala that the National Theatre has suggested to the government in the National Development Plan

Walugembe adds that Uganda National Theatre has also appealed to the Uganda Government to develop the current Uganda National theatre to a better standard.

Uganda National Theatre belongs to the government and its development is likely to propel the development of the theatre industry in Uganda.
