Phaneroo Ministries has issued a statement defending itself on the video clip that has gone viral on social media platforms in which it’s preacher, Apostle Grace Lubega, allegedly attacks the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

“This was done by some unknown individuals, who for their personal motives intentionally cut out of a full sermon, what worked for their benefit.
The clip has been used to provoke harsh sentiments, propagate misunderstandings and discredit some political individuals and thus the ministry and its Vision Bearer,” the statement read.

The video had evoked a negative reaction from social media fanatics who warned the pastor against judging others because it is against the bible teachings.

“Neither do we judge any man for we are not God, and if this was the impression given, we choose to turn the right cheek and apologise for that,” Phaneroo replied to the allegations.

 Below is the full statement

PHANEROO MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC STATEMENT
[Sunday 30th September, 2018, Kampala, Uganda]
We take this opportunity to write to those we owe an accountability to and those who seek to know the truth pertaining the recent and ongoing attacks, and false accusations against Phaneroo ministries and the person of Apostle Grace Lubega.
The public has been given the impression that the ministry is fighting some political individuals and siding with others.
As a ministry, we owe it to the moral conscience of our nation to clarify on this matter for the purpose of setting the record straight because this deliberate attack is terribly contrary to our convictions, integrity, moral code, ethics and values.

On 6th September 2018 Apostle Grace Lubega, in a Phaneroo sermon on the critical issue of inheritance and the birth right addressed believers on their responsibility to not only pray for their nation but also take up critical offices for the noble purpose of Godly leadership.

It was spoken in a spirit of love, and humility without necessarily finding fault with one or blaming another.
However, like all information, there is no control of what one could make it say or imply, and for such we find ourselves in circumstances of being misunderstood.

In making this statement, we are cognisant of the sensitivity of the issues at hand, the volatile political atmosphere of our nation and the strong undercurrents that are driving the issues in contention.
We deeply respect the inherent human right of freedom of speech of all peoples and that the same ought to be exercised with wisdom, responsibility and a sense of accountability to the conscience of the wider society in which we live.

And thus we state these facts.
1. A video clip of the service was created out of context by propagandists and posted on social media. This short video clip was not prepared or sent by Phaneroo ministries, and neither exists on any of our media platforms.
This was done by some unknown individuals, who for their personal motives intentionally cut out of a full sermon, what worked for their benefit.
The clip has been used to provoke harsh sentiments, propagate misunderstandings and discredit some political individuals and thus the ministry and its Vision Bearer.

2. Secondly, we wish to pronounce that as a ministry we are non-partisan and have no political agenda or interest. We are neither for the present establishment nor for any anti-establishment— we are for and of God.
We do not condone violence, and the shedding of innocent blood to achieve political objectives. Neither do we judge any man for we are not God, and if this was the impression given, we choose to turn the right cheek and apologise for that.

Our gospel is of peace, love, forgiveness and reconciliation.
3. The message was not in any way meant as an attack on any specific individual as was implied, it sought to emphasise the fact that the heart of any leader who pursues any office should seek divine wisdom and purpose, not just ride on emotions.
Getting emotional happens to all men whether for or against any idea, but at the end of the day we hope beyond pain and find answers. Hence, the call by the man of God, for Christians to pray for this land.
We do not in any way undermine the sentiments of those that believe that our nation deserves positive progress, but we are also aware that this can only be by the hand of God.

It is this very deep sense of responsibility that informs the context of the sermon from which the video clip was extracted.
The message of this particular sermon was on the principles by which one builds a legacy; the importance of what you live IN your children over what you live FOR your children (Proverbs 13:22); the infallible truth that Christ, who is called the First Born is our standard and that by Him, Christians have been made partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light (Colossians 1:12).

Ultimately, the very gist of it is that the true and sincere Christian believer has a greater advantage if elevated to any position of responsibility because of God’s grace at work in them.
It is from this very context that Apostle Grace Lubega strongly emphasised the need for any leader to have a genuine personal relationship with God.

Like he vehemently pronounced, “God give us Godly leaders in this nation, Men and women who fear your name. Men and women who bow to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. People who understand their responsibility.”
In a world vying for liberalisations that water down the fundamentals of authentic Christian belief and the principles by which stable cultures ought to exist, it is important that the Church of Christ pledge to prayer, truth and love. History should never judge us for silence in the times when we had the choice to speak, only God will judge our hearts and know we were not against men and that we loved our country.
We commit to continue to preach truth with the great mandate of drawing the lost to Christ with God as our aide and guide.

We choose to forgive those that were quick to judge without asking the right questions, and those who used our ministry to further their personal objectives.
We continue to pray for our land and believe for Godly wisdom and direction.
Our future is in God’s hand and with His mercy, this nation shall soar towards greatness.
God bless Uganda.

AppA hateful message spread in Uganda over the popular messaging platform Whatsapp prompted debate over policing social media. President Yoweri Museveni has called for the creators of the message to be arrested, but some are saying prosecution could set a dangerous precedent. The hateful audio message spread over Whatsapp, ridiculing the Bahima people of western Uganda, sparked anger.

In response to the audio, Museveni released a nearly 15 minute video calling for the arrest of those who created the message. Directly addressing the perpetrators behind the audio, he calls them fools and enemies looking to divide the nation. The President’s video has caused its own mixed reaction. The language Museveni speaks in the video is Runyankole, spoken in south-western Uganda. This left many wondering why an anti-tribalism message would be delivered in a language specific to his particular tribe. Some also balked at President Museveni’s suggestion that anyone who shared the Whatsapp message was complicit in ethnic hate.

However, many Ugandans support a clamp down on ethnic hate. Popular TV panellist Collin Asiimwe said tribal division in Uganda is still strong, and cannot be allowed to spiral. “Because of what happened in the region, if you see what happened in South Sudan, because that was one ethnicity rising up against one another,” he said. “There was Kenya, there was Burundi, and then Rwanda, and so it is so sensitive. Not even just the civilian population like you and me, even the security services and the government need to wake up. The last time it tried to happen was with Kony and northern Uganda … So there is so much to worry about.”

Ugandan law bans the promotion of sectarian hate. Although there has never been a conviction for this crime, because of vague wording the law remains contentious. Some suggest it has been used primarily against journalists and opposition candidates.

A lawyer who has worked on online media laws, Peter Magelah, said the law on sectarian hate is applicable in this case, but he said applying the law to social media could be a problem.

“What I find as a challenge is really not what the law said, the challenge is how to enforce what the law said. How to identify the originator is a very difficult thing. Once you identify the originator, how to choose who to sue, because publication would mean anyone who shared, anyone who posted on his or her Facebook, anyone who possibly ‘liked’”, said Magelah. “It becomes so many people who got into that. The problem we have had in this country is many times there is some sort of selective justice, selective criminal justice. So it is likely if it is a political opponent doing this the law will catch up with him.”

Although the Whatsapp audio in question was clearly aimed at demeaning the Bahima, mitigating hate speech and freedom of expression in the lead up to the 2016 presidential election could prove to be a delicate balance between protecting the nation’s unity and clamping down on social media.

The Uganda Communications Commission has reminded the members of the general public that the first phase of the on going national registration of owners of video halls, video libraries, and cinema halls in the districts of Kampala, Luweero, Mukono, and Wakiso ends on July 4th, 2012.

The commission has also reminded those esteemed stakeholders who have not yet registered their video/cinema halls and video libraries to do so not later than July 4th 2012. According to sources, the commission shall publicise in the mainstream media the names of those who have been registered in the above mentioned districts on July 9th 2012. Those who may have registered but find their names missing should contact the Uganda Communication Commission on plot 42-44, Spring Road, Bugolobi.

The registration exercise will be rolled out throughout Uganda in phases. The dates and centres for registration in other districts of Uganda shall be announced in due course. The commission says that the aim of this exercise is to ensure the film industry in Uganda is streamlined so as to spur it to further growth. As the regulatory body of the commissions sector in Uganda, UCC is mandated under the electronic media act and the stage plays act to regulate the film industry, including but not limited to video and cinematography halls.

Sales of the video about the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) leader, Joseph Kony are on increase in USA and European countries. Millions of people in Europe and USA are eager to see the atrocities the LRA fighters reportedly committed on innocent Ugandans in northern Uganda.

Kony’s video sales in USA and European countries show that the world this time is united towards eliminating the LRA insurgency in the Great Lakes Region.

Many people watching this film have given thanks to Invisible Children and American Documentary team.

However the LRA Video has got more criticism than praise on social networks like facebook, twitter and and youtube. Currently the LRA insurgency in Northern Uganda is no more and the people there are focused on Rehabilitation; Agriculture food security; modernizing Agriculture and answering Education challenges at all levels.
