In a two weeks global women’s water initiative training running in Kampala, women across the region are being trained on ways how to construct various household level water technologies that can create sustainable and easily managed solutions to address community water and sanitation challenges.

The Executive Director ICON, Women and young people’s leadership academy, Deborah Kaddu Serwadda says those under training will move down to their communities and transfer the acquired knowledge.

 The over 50 women under training are tasking all EAC member states to invest more in the water and environment sector as one of the way the region can mitigate climate change.

 According to a WHO report presented at the meeting, 80% of diseases in Uganda and Kenya are linked to poor sanitation and Tanzania 41%.
