Ugandans have been urged to put politics in Uganda’s way of the cross procession that will be held on Good Friday.

The Uganda Joint Christian council expresses concern that since some Ugandans launched walk to work and walk to pray protests, some groups might want to use the way of the cross processions to further their political causes.

Archbishop Jonah Lwanga

Following the walk to walk and walk to pray protests, the Joint Christian Council has asked the opposition and the government to sit down and come-up with an amicable solution to the opposition’s grievances.

The councils’ chairperson metropolitan Jonah Lwanga of the Orthodox Church says the parties should have face to face negotiation to avoid violation and destruction that has characterized the walk to work protests.

Metropolitan Lwanga made the call while mapping routes for this Friday’s way of the cross match which is a Christian procession for the last journey of Jesus Christ to his hanging.

The way of the cross, a walking procession always preceded Eater which will be marked on Sunday April 25th.

The Uganda procession on Good Friday will start at 8:00am from the 12 different churches and end-up at Nakivubo stadium at10:30 am where all Christians will congregate for Good Friday prayers.
