Kadaga called on youth to be involved in formulation of East African federation

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has called on the young generation to be involved in the formulation of East African federation. She made the remarks while speaking to the school youth that gathered at parliament for the National schools debate championship 2015.

Kadaga says that the youth make 73% of the East African population and their involvement is key in planning and is crucial for the East African countries. She says that the land locked countries like Uganda have a lot to achieve in the East African community integration, more than the non-locked countries in the region. She however decried the bureaucratic tendencies by some of the member states to deal with issues which delay the integration which include tariff barriers.

The students called for the removal of the EAST African community Summit and be replaced by the East African youth council. The students say that the East African youth council will see to it that the issues concerning the youth in the region are worked on quickly and have each country vote one youth to represent the country in the council.

Four schools which include Mengo SS, Trinity college Nabingo , Iganga SS and Kiira college Butiiki reached the semi final while Kiira college Butiki reached the final round.

Government to define what constitutes pornography

Government ofUgandahas finally decided to come out publicly and explain to Ugandans what constitutes pornography. Information Minister, Karooro Okuruti says that perhaps this will stop Ugandans from promoting pornography.

She says that the government is going to explain pornography in both print and electronic mediums. Karooro also says that the government is drafting a bill that will stop the usage of pornographic materials in the Ugandan media.

Section 166 of the Penal Code Act forbids trafficking of pornographic materials in both print and electronic media. Currently Ugandan media houses are specializing in producing pornographic materials with a claim that they are so selling to the Ugandan young generation.

Karooro has also remindedUganda’s media managers that Ugandan cultures in diversity don’t accept promotion of pornography.
