Uganda Agriculture and trade show in Jinja to go on despite bomb attacks

The President of the Uganda National Farmers’ Federation Charles Ogang has assured Ugandans that the 18th Source of Nile agriculture and trade exhibition is going on as scheduled in Jinja.

This followed rumors that the exhibition might be cancelled followed bomb blast in Uganda on Sunday that killed at least 74 people and injured several others.

After police warned all gatherings of many people to follow strict security measures, and some music artists canceled their shows, some people were saying the Jinja agriculture and trade show might not take place.

But Ogang says the 18th Source of the Nile agriculture and trade exhibition started on Monday 12th and will go on until 17th July as planned.

He says President Museveni who is the Patron of the Uganda National Farmers Federation is expected to officially open the exhibition on Tuesday.

The agriculture show which begun in 1993 attracts farms and suppliers of agriculture related products and services from many countries across the world.

The 2010 agricultural and trade show is being held under the theme: “modern production technologies and value addition, the way forward for the agricultural sector.”
