Uganda Government asked to provide special funding to technical institutions

The government has been urged to provide special funding to institutions especially those offering practical and technical skills as the means to tackle unemployment among the youth.

Officiating at the 13th graduation ceremony of Tinner International School of Beauty, the Executive director of the school Ruth Kibirige said practical training centre’s which could help youth in job creation lacks funding and support from the government.

She says the high figures of unemployment especially among the youth are persisting due to lack of practical skills lacking in the Uganda’s formal education structure.

Kibirige says several youth have been forced to engage in deviance activities simply because they lack the jobs from where to earn an income and improve their lives.

She has also called upon parents not to neglect the girl child in education because girls are equally vital in the development of the country.
