The government has warned people from Bududa and neighbouring areas who are going to Kiryandongo to join the Budada people resettled there after landslides displaced thousands of them.
The Minister of Distaster Preparedness, Musa Ecweru says that there are people from Bududa who were not affected by the landslides but have followed affected friends and relatives to Kiryandongo in order to take advantage of relief supplies.

The Minister says the government is struggling to resettle and rebuild the lives of affected people and it is wrong for those not affected to add a burden top the government.
Ecweru was speaking during a visit to the Bududa settlers in Kiryandongo who enumerated a number of challenges they have found in their new home.
The people said most of their relief houses have been destroyed by windstorms, while some complained of poor health and education services. Pregnant women complained of lacking nearby health centers and nutritious food for themselves and the babies.
The Minister promised that the government will give more tapelines for the residents to re-rood they temporary accommodation structures as it looks for funds to construct permanent structures at their camp in Kiryandongo.
He said the government is looking for funds to build schools, health centers and police stations among other social services in the resettlement camp. Ecweru said the government will work with its donor partners to ensure pregnant mothers and babies get nutritious food.
During the minister’s visit, the residents also received relief items including banana suckers and clothes sent by a church back home in Budada.
